Cx100 I Think

I got this pen from my father and it works great, but I threw the empty cartridge in it away because I was going to go buy more. I have seen lots of different ones at staples, office depot etc and well after some research I come to find out they do not make these cartridges anymore. So my question is can I convert this to an eyedropper or does anyone know of where I can get an old cartridge to syringe fill?

It is a pretty cool pen that I would like to keep around. It is stylish with a black barrel and chrome or nickle plated cap and a medium nib

I would advise against the eyedropper idea.

Someone here will likely have a cartridge you can have or purchase. Cartridges turn up regularly on eBay.

Still beating myself up on this. Should have known that the wierd little yellow top was different and not like any other ones I had seen. Even dug through my trash can full of coffee grinds and beer bottles to no avail.

We all start some place, no reason you should know the cartridges were only Esterbrook.

You must have had a 'Universal' Cartridge.

No it looked exactly like that cartridge and the pen looks exactly like that but a black barrel, though I dont know what those washer things are. Is this a pen worth trying to find one of those cartridges for? I did enjoy the feel of it when it was dipped with ink. I am a poor college student so I cant spent alot to get one of these if they are expensive.

I have a lever-fill version of this pen and it gets as much use as my other Esterbrooks. If it were me, I'd try to find one.

ETA - Ummm. I've just bid on a pack of cartridges in England. 5 days left. If I'm successful, I'll let you know :)

WOW thanks, let me know. My dad would get a kick out of hearing that one of his old high school pens is being used for school work again. Good luck on the Auction

I hope so...that's the one I'm bidding on.

FYI - I have family in London who will ship it to me in another package, saving $15.00
ETA - if you want to bid and win, let me know and I'll give you the address, she'll send to me, I'll send to you, still saving nearly $15.00 :)

  • 1 year later...

Holy cow, I didn't realize I'd bid on this item *quite* so long ago.

After two unintended trips to Iceland and my step-daughter's inability to get the cartridges to a post office (or get them properly addressed, apparently), I FINALLY received the cartridges in the mail a few months ago...just before a trip to the UK where I could have picked them up in person.

Then, as is my husband's MO, he decided to clean and put them somewhere for safe-keeping, not remembering where he put them. I guess my step-daughter comes by her tendencies naturally.

Anyway, here's what I ended up with, if anyone's interested :)

Full box of seemingly unmolested green ink cartridges

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
