How Many Of You Collect Wahl Gold-Filled And Silver-Filled Pens?

I have quite a few of them myself and really enjoy them. Their nibs are (usually) delightful, most of mine range from semi-flex to wet noodle. I don't see people on FPN mention them very often, and I know a lot may find those pens a bit too gaudy, but I know there has to be at least a few members who are really fond of them on here.

My favorite pen, out of all my collection, actually happens to be a Wahl "0" gold-filled ringtop with the nicest wet noodle nib I've tried.

I only have one and it is a fine pen. I would be interested in acquiring another, however I seldom come across them.

I only have one, a #6 size greek key set in the box in gold filled. If your only going to keep one I might as well keep a good one!

Only the smallest ones with the size 0 nibs. I collect them since I also collect Bantams which also have the size 0 nibs.

I like to have them as a complimentary display. I have two different patterns in gold filled in each of yellow gold and green gold.

Best Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I've always liked Wahl metal pens and have about 20 moderately priced, great writing pens that I'm going to be selling, watch the classifieds or message me.

Save the Wahls!

I have a variety, gold filled, one silver filled, and a couple solid silver. All are beautiful in my eyes and write well. I think they are under-rated/collected.

That pen I mentionned above ended up arriving.. and I have another size "0" gold-filled ringtop arriving in a few hours. Once it's here, I think I'll take a family picture and post it here.

About the metal ring tops does anyone know if they hold less than avg ink vs regular sized FPs? I do have a few smaller FPs (lever-fillers) but never thought much about total ink capacity.

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

I love these pens. Wish I could take better pictures, but this topic shows my collection, minus my new brain/Niagara and Wedgewood.

That is a great collection!

The sacs are much smaller and shorter so they don't hold that much ink compared to bigger pens. I'm not sure exactly how much they hold but I'd guess anywhere around 0.3-0.5ml for #0 ringtops and 0.4-0.7ml for #2 ringtops.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
