Penbox.co.uk?

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a Pelikan from penbox.co.uk and I wanted to contact with them via email - which I did twice -, but got no response.
They have great prices on the birds though.
Its tempting, but I don't want to pay forward before they at least reply.

Does anyone have any experience with the shop in general?

I've bought from them no issues. I've never emailed them though. Time difference/holidays?

Much Love--Virginia

I have bought multiple bottles of inks from them online several times. No issues with them. Always prompt in shipping. Their shipping charge is one of the best I have found. Same low shipping charge regardless of order value. Price of their Diamine inks is best compared to most places. I will repeat with them.

Thank you iveyman!
That's promising!
Their prices are indeed great on many products and on the shipping too!
It'd be a bit of a relief if they would reply though. Even just a "Yep" or "Nope" to know they are there...

I bought a Visconti HS, and around four nibs from Penbox, and all transactions were smooth and quick.

I do think that the whole enterprise is run by one person, so best to hang in there for a bit and try contacting him again..

I have bought some pens and Waterman Carene nibs from them with no trouble at all. The usual disclaimers apply but I'd have no hesitation in buying there again. R

Thank you for both of you!

Your experiences are quite reassuring.

I had that in my mind too. We'll see.

Maybe I should just place my order and hope for the best :D

I ordered a Caran d'Ache converter for my Leman (which I purchased from them) on their website on Sunday evening and it arrived today. Have bought from them on a number of occasions, pens, inks, etc., and have had no issues - very helpful, but I did notice once that they were slow at responsing to emails. E-mails do sometimes go astray!!

Oooo, you're going for it. Excellent!

Like Sach, I bought my Visconti Homo Sapiens from them.

They had the best price, by far and a super speedy service. They even tested the pen to make sure it wasn't suffering from bad QC.

Have you tried calling them?

Great to hear!
Actually I've sent them 3 emails so far  , but if the purchase and shipping goes fluently I'll be okay with that.

Thanks Tas! ;)
Have you asked them to test it?
I would also like to ask them to check the BigBird before they send it out.

I haven't tried calling them yet though.

I didn't bother with emails, too large a sum to risk. I just called them the minute I'd made up my mind . . . and at about ten minutes past 9am.

I just asked if they wouldn't mind kindly testing the pen for me as I'd heard "stories" about duff Dreamtouch nibs. Large sum of money blah blah.

Best wishes. :)

Woo hoo!

Well done for taking the plunge.

You've been hankering after an M1000 for ages.

(I would have thought that after all the praise you've heaped on Pelikan over the years that perhaps they might have "helped" you out" :( )

Yes, it's been a while for sure!
I've never waited this much to buy a pen. Had to sell two pens as well to fund the purchase, so it really wasn't an easy decision.
I guess it should be like this with grail pens.

Haha, maybe I wasn't loud enough :D
The pen stand what they've sent to me for the Instagram challenge was a great gift though!

Visited penbox in person this weekend. It is a wonderful shop filled wall to wall with amazing pens. The proprieter is very helpful and great to do business with. Came out with a Pelikan m800 italic broad after dipping and trying it out. Saving my money to go back for another browse!

Using the new pen at work today and it is just a dream to write with. One happy customer.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
