Scriptus Toronto: Update, And Exhibitors Map Online

D Armstrong

Recommended Posts

With just under two weeks to go until Scriptus 2014, preparations are kicking into high gear.

As mentioned before, we have a full venue, with just under 40 exhibitors booked into the stunning Appel salon at the Toronto Reference Library. To get a peek at what is in store, a downloadable map of exhibitors and their locations is now available on the show's website at: http://scriptustoronto.com

We are looking forward to seeing everyone there; one Toronto pen shop alone has given out over 500 leaflets, and the website has had over one thousand unique visitors.

So mark November 2 down on your calendar, and be sure to mention you saw it on FPN!

One question - I noticed that Wonder Pens is a sponsor of the show but they don't seem to have a table...is this true or just an omission?

WonderPens wanted to be a sponsor but due to the fact that they have recently had an addition to their family they opted not to have a table.

From their blog site:

"Lastly, the Toronto Pen Show, Scriptus, is fast approaching on Sunday, November 2nd! Unfortunately, we will not be exhibiting, although our bricks and mortar shop will be open regular hours (12-5), however we will be attending to say hello and…maybe see some new pens for ourselves! "

I am too - coming in from Montreal for it! Any possibility of an FPN get-together?

I hope so. I will be there when it opens. Hope to see you there.

So, no one selling Edisons at the show ? Wonderpens is the only Canadian retailer I think

I think Wonder Pens may be getting it in next month. From their blog: "...We are still waiting for the new J. Herbin Stormy Grey to arrive, now anticipated for mid-November. We are also expecting Rouge Hematite to arrive in that shipment."

Yeah, I talked to La Marche about it, and it won't be in until mid-november.

Also, don't forget to stop by my table for ink samples too! I'm selling a lot of Sailor ink samples exclusive to stores. I just have WAY TOO MUCH. I'll have about 600 vials of 2mL each for sale, so first come first serve! :P

Seriously, please buy them. I cannot keep so much ink at my house. It's getting ridiculous.

I've been prepping for the show now for a couple of days, and will have a large group of vintage pens with me most restored and ready to go. If anyone has anything on their wish list PM me and I'll try to bring something along! Flexies, Broads and Stubs and everything in between...

Really - you can have too much ink? ;)

I'll pick some up for some pen friends here in Montreal...be a nice souvenir of the TO pen show. (Better than a Rob Ford bobblehead, which is the other thing I have been asked to find...)

I didn't think I *could* have too much ink, but since my last shipment of SankoDo and Hougado inks arrived, I'm starting to question that. There are only so many pretty but not AMAZING!!!! blues I can use in a lifetime. It's time to sell at least half the bottle to fund future ink purposes. I'll probably be keeping about 20 mL of each ink for future mixing and comparison purposes though.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
