Havane - L'artisan Pastellier

L'Artisan Pastellier is french ink / calligraphy materials producers. They offer two lines of inks suitable for fountain pens: CALLIFOLIO (inks made for fountain pens, neutral PH and so on) andENCRES CLASSIQUES (not all of them may have perfect properties however I've tried most of them and had no issues in my fountain pens).

Soon I'll prepare comparison of all 36 colors (there are two new Teodora and Olivastre) but it'll take time. Maybe November?

Havane is nice, warm sepia. Not the best there is but decent.

Heh, I see this one didn't manage to stir much interest :) I've managed to get new pack alu of this one and, surprisingly, it looks different than the ink reviewed above. Has anyone except me ever bought it? Has anyone tried it and could say if his ink is similat to first or second review? They look much different.

Anyway I tend to re-do some of my reviews in order to get them standarized (same paper / pen combos). Below you'll find pics for Havane:

Vis, you are the curator of inks at a library in Poland, right?

You're a Spartan! That's a compliment, btw. :D

Didn't really like the original version but . . . the latter version has sparked my interest. No idea why but there's something about it that I really like. :huh:

Hmm. Me and pinks do not get on but this is "vintage pink" so it counts.

Thank you, again.

I'm not keen on either of them, but wouldn't have expected so much variation. If forced to choose one or the other, then the pink has something different about it. :)

Well, these two are definitely different inks :) Now I'm asking myself which one was alabelled correctly :) I've checked Vanness and L'Artisan Pastellier site and it seems the one from post yesterday is Havane. Hopefully someone will add review of it in the future and we'll be able to compare the results.

It may well be me. I'm planning a seven ink order - mostly thanks to you :angry: but started by migo984 who kindly gave me a bottle of Gris de Payne that's almost empty :wub:

@Tas - you'll enjoy them, I'm more than sure :)

@Lgsoltek - Rouille d'Ancre is cool, Havane isn't :)

DON'T !

I've needed a seventh ink to take me over the 25 Euro minimum order threshold. If you dissuade me now it'll be ages before I place an order. :(

@Tas - you may enjoy it, I, on the other hand think Rouille d'Ancre to be coolest and strangest pink ever, one I actually like. This color is bizarre but I can't help it - I really like it. It's my shameful secret. If you're not sure about Havane Olivastre is perfect, Sepia is nicely subdued, Anahuac is very nice orange-amber-brown (I've rereviewed it here, I guess I'll repost it on FPN - the quetion is should I create new topic, ask mods to change reviews or just post everything under the orignial review?)

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
