Filcao - Anyone Know What Happened To The Site?

Hi guys! I'm wondering if anyone knows what might be going on with niche brand filcao (also spelled f.i.l.c.a.o.)? It's just that when I try their site I get a Can't Find Server notice, it's Down For Everyone Not Just Me, and it doesn't show up on google etc searches at all (I only get the notice when I type the URL directly).

The weird thing is they were there as recently as Oct. 6 when I wrote them about a filcao kika I got off the 'bay - I used their site to get their email address and browsed their collection extensively, zero problems. They didn't reply to my email, but I wasn't worried because I didn't know if that's usual for them or not since it's the first time I'm contacting them. Besides, tiny artisanal brand, non-urgent question...not really a setup to expect lightning fast replies, you know?

Just to be clear, in case anyone from filcao is reading this, this isn't a whinefest, I'm not banging on about service or anything. I bought the pen from an ebay seller with few expectations since it's second hand (or third or fourth for all I know!). I'm just asking because I REALLY hope filcao are ok and haven't vanished, they are a great little company who were never afraid to make weird pens and sell them for a non-stupid price too ;) So I hope they're still live and kicking just experiencing website issues :)

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

It's two days later and I just checked, same situation. Getting rather worried now! I'd really appreciate any news if anyone's got it :-)

I looked up their ownership in Settimo, Italy. You might try their email filcao@tiscalinet.it

If you don't write in Italian, you can write in English and add a Google translate paragraph, though Google Translate is sometimes very wonky in translating. Not everyone in Italy is completely fluent in English. I tend to speak Italian when I'm there, by necessity.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
