No, I need blacks and/or reds in them. Or "simply" a "pure" blue.

Blue-blacks not so much but the others -yes. And sky blue and violet-tinged blues and cobalt blues.

Blurple, true blues and paler blues. I like some teals and turquoises, but I don't like blue black...

Turquiose-like blues are probably my favourite. Stuff like Kon-peki, South Seas Blue, Sky High, Asa Blue, etc...

Diamine's Sapphire Blue & Presidential Blue as well as Pelikan's Royal Blue. In addition I like Waterman's Turquoise, and Pilot's Sky Blue G2 pens. I have a platinum sky blue cartridge to try yet, I'll let you know how that goes.

Not a big teal fan, or blue black so much.

Blurples ("sapphires")--I don't consider Penman Sapphire to be a true sapphire, but it's been years since I bought it and didn't like it, so I might not be remembering it correctly. I like blue-purples in all ratios up to straight purple--I have so many I'll never use them up. I love BSB, but it's not worth the hassle.

Piedmont, Country, and Hill Country Blues in that order.

Oh wait, you meant ink not music. For ink it's a true blue that's highly saturated.

Blurples that are wet, free flowing, water resistant and fade resistant.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Blurples and cobalts are my favourites, but basically anything that is a bright intense color. I hate washed-out blues, and I am not a fan of turqoise or blue-black.

Blue leaning turquoise (Pelikan Türkis) and dark turquoise (Noodler's BBK)...not teal...that has way too much green in it.

Blue-Blacks and Blues with a degree of gravitas at high density (e.g. MB Royal Blue).

De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes is very nice, but also very dark. Perhaps a bit too much for me. Never really like blue-blacks or very light or turqoise inks.

Iroshizuku Asa-gao is my current favorite. Very well-behaved, nice shade of blue, wonderful ink. I use it mostly with F or M nibs. Downside: it is quite expensive.

True blues, some dark cobalt shades, fewer blue-blacks, but some still, yes, and my favorite- absolutely in love with this one: Iroshizuku Shin-kai and last but certainly not least - MontBlanc Midnight Blue

Just got some P.W. Ackerman #4 Nassaus Blauw, and I can't recommend it too highly.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
