It Would Be Good To See...

Would anyone else like to see Pelikan bring out a Brown Tortoise M600? Or even a White Tortoise M800?

Im not a huge fan of the White Tortoise, but I'd love to see a modern, Brown Tortoise M600, and even a White Tortoise M800.

Do you think this would ever happen? Do you think they will ever let the 'Tortoise' get to the entire Souverän range, limited or full-time?

Tom.

Well... they DID have a brown tortoise M600, for the Japan market.

Yeah me too, not a big fan of white tortoise because I have OCD and can't stand seeing the ink in the white cap.

I think it will happen eventually, given enough demand.

There have been quite a few tortoises already. There was also a M200 tortoise IIRC.

May I refer you to Joshua's site with regards to Pelikan history: http://thepelikansperch.com/

I'd like to see a white tortoise M800. It's worth remembering that with our oft lamented price increases, Pelikan has brought out a number of long demanded pens (M800 tortoise, M101N tortoises and lizard). Not sure if we'll see a white tortoise M800 anytime soon (or if we'll ever see my hoped for M1005 Dark Blue), but it seems it's more likely now than it did a few years back.

I'd love to see a Brown Tortoise M1000. It's definitely my favourite finish.

Now that's something I might have to buy!

I think Pelikan would avoid taking the same finishes that are used on their smaller pens to their flagship M1000. Apart from the classic green, and black, I think they would try and make it "superior" to the others, to keep it prestige.

Like the raden edition, I think they would only introduce totally new finishes for their M1000, but I would love to see an M1000 Brown Tortoise.

Well here are my 5 cents...please can they make the same lovely flexible nib for an M800 that is currently only available in the M1000? I would love to see a Raden in that size tooooooo..so cool....7

The M600 is the sweet spot for me. The classic brown over brown tortoise is possibly my most fave finish. Put those together (oh, and PLEASE bring back a classic engraved turban top while you are at it) and I will be first in line to pony up the big bucks which I am sure such an offering would demand.

+1. I would love to see the brown tortoise offered in a rollerball, R600 version too. I actually wrote to a Pelikan rep to ask if I could order an M600 in the same brown tortoise material (I was inspired by the recent anecdote about a custom demo someone got during a tour of the factory, and if they still have the material left, I thought, It's not inconceivable...)

Anyway, the Pelikan rep got back to me right away, saying there were no immediate plans for it but she would pass the info along, that they need an order of 1,500 (or some number like that) to commission a piece, and that the m600 Vibrant green was coming out soon. We can still hope, I guess...Pelikan, are you listening? :)

Paloma gives us inspiration:

Let's all send an email to Pelikan on Monday Oct. 27 at 1200 GMT asking for a brown tortoise set in the 600 range! (and if anyone complains, blame me.)

An acceptable remake of the 100N tortoise is already there (the red one), so that leaves no more wishes that Pelikan could do for me.

A real remake of the old 100N Lizard would be nice though (unlike the recent model), but I don't think I would buy it.

Greetings,

Michael

What about a return to the nicely understated pens without gold rings everywhere?

I would love a M400 or M600 without the double gold rings on the piston knob and the single ring on the grip section. My old Pelikan 400 does not have either of these, and it does not seem to suffer from any structural weaknesses due to a lack of bling.

They could even offer it at a lower price... :ninja:

The '87-89 W.Germany 800 had a superb springy regular flex :notworthy1: (on my wish list)....a tad better than the '90-97 Germany models. Same goes for the W.Germany and Germany 400's.

If you get one of those '90's 800's nibs in 14 C...it can be modified to semi-flex by a good nibmeister. Don't do that to a W. German nib....you would ruin it's value.

18 K can not be made semi-flex.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I'd love to see the Sunlight raden design in the M600 size. Alas, I suspect this would be cost-prohibitive to produce. One can dream.

Fantastic resource.

I'd like to see an M800 White Tortoise myself, as well as an M850 Vermeil White Tortoise.

My "it would good to see" are a M800 White Tortoise, M800 Ruby Red, more Cities/Places M600 series.

Though I am three pens behind in my Special Edition collecting ( M101N Red Tortoise, M605 Marine & M600 Vibrant Green ) so my suggestions above would only make that worse. :)

On the nib side give me factory stubs/italics like Aurora and other manufactures provide and no not something again like the very poor M800 IB nib.

I'm with DrCodfish on this one. The m600 is the perfect size for me, and I love the brown tortoise finish. I have a brown tortoise m400 that I'm always wishing was just a bit bigger.

I'd also like an EF nib that was more like a Japanese EF, (maybe market it as an EEF?).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
