Might There Be A Pen Storage Box That Can Use A Lock?

From all the cases I've seen you can't put a lock. Why a lock? I have parents who for some reason likes to drop my gold nibbed pens nib down... on the hardwood floor... Oh yes my Falcon/Elabo is busted. First it was my VP now my Elabo.....

I mean a box you can see the pens from the top almost like a display case. I actually don't care how ugly the box is as if it was a nice wooden box it will cost more than some of the pens. And when I meant for lock, I meant a locking latch as I have a lock in mind to use.... the ABUS diskus with the Plus core.

Also for home security too.... seriously the door to my house has only 4 pins and they are basically flat so very pickable. And that 4 pins is part of the Deadbolt. I can rake the deadbolt open....

A large wooden case with a glass insert at the lid should not be difficult at the local craft store.

Attaching a locking latch is easy. However, a visible display may be too tempting for people

who do not, at this time, respect your space.

Consider a steel cash box.

Yup, I'd put my pen storage box in a fire proof box. A place like WalMart has them for like $60. Should be room for some cash and a journal too.

My first pen box was had a glass insert in the top to see the pens and a key and internal lock that locked the lid down. I found another at a craft store that was glass topped and had a clasp that a lock could be attached to, I added the pen slots to the box. However if you are worried about someone coming in your house, a smallish locked box will just go under their arm and leave with them, thus losing all of your pens.

The suggestions for the fireproof box are on point; if your home security situation is that poor and you want a lockable box that, itself will be difficult to be stolen, here's what I would do, or just simply take your pens with you.

The two low cost models that come to mind that I would recommend to clients (I'm in the security industry) are The Club LB200 Personal Vault Security Lock Box or Master Lock 5900D. Both can be secured with cables included and the Master cable does not need be removed to move the box.

Long term, and if your collection grows, I would consider a floor mounted mini-safe, installed in a corner with complete floor anchoring.

Any glass top box can itself be stolen or easily pried open as you need welded or internal latches for the discus to properly work. Good luck!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
