Onoto Classic - New Colours?

A couple of years back Onoto issued two lovely looking pens, one in Tortoishell and the other Royal Ruby. I wonder if they have any plans to issue further interesting colours? I would love to see the Magna Classic in some new colours.

There was a 'Jade' on show at LWES.

It did look really like jade. Which was a disappointment, as it's a colour that never really inspires me.

Then there's the Asprey's own version of the Magna Classic in purple.

I do agree, though, that Onoto could be a bit more adventurous in their materials, and it would be nice to see.

Regards,

Richard.

There's a photograph on the home page of Onoto that shows a 1937 Onoto Magna. Now I'd love to see a new Magna in that colour.

I've had a look at the Jade pen and though it look nice, it's still not as interesting as some of the colours issued by Conway Stewart and other pen manufacturers. Onoto seems to be aiming for the really high end market, and seem to be doing well with their very expensive pens. Hope they also give some thought to the lower end of the market as well and produce some interesting new colours for us to lust after.

This picture is from the Onoto website and shows the 1937 Magna. Now wouldn't it be great if Onoto issued one in this colour. Fingers crossed :)

Here is my collection of old and new Onotos - the vintage Magnas are translucent - just - so you can monitor ink levels. The marbled pink or blue would also be nice in a modern pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
