Mom's Cancer Is Back...

Hey brothers and sisters...

Sorry for being "gone" for a while... I've had a bit of a cruddy time recently.

As many of you know, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer a few years ago and really kicked its butt. In her checkup a few weeks ago, they told her that her blood tests led them to believe that her cancer was back.

We got the CT scan results a few days ago and it's back and extremely aggressive. It's on her liver, stomach, etc. and it is to the point that surgery is not an option. They are going to do chemo and then see what happens from there.

So, that is the situation we are at right now. She is my only family since I was born, so it's twice as hard too.

Emotions aside, I am trying to get her the best possible care... so I am trying to scrounge up money. I'm going to be selling pens in my collection that I think people will appreciate and make use of. Everyone "wins"...

1) Montblanc 149 in Medium. NEVER INKED OR DIPPED - $700 SHIPPED

As you see in the link above, amazon has this, brand new, for $810 + tax.

2) Montblanc Heritage 1912 in Medium. NEVER INKED OR DIPPED - $800 SHIPPED

Again, link above is ~$900 + tax.

3) Montblanc LeGrand Fountain Pen in Medium. NEVER INKED OR DIPPED! - $400 SHIPPED

This one is appx $500 + tax on Amazon.

If you're interested, just shoot me a PM or something. I'll include a 3-Step Ultimate Polish kit with the pens as well :-)

I really appreciate everyone's support.

NOTA BENE

The above offer of pens is the same as the classified that TLMG has on these pens.

I am so terribly sorry about this awful news. Prayers for you and your mom. I just went through this with a dear friend and so I am pretty raw about it yet.

My dad has lung cancer and we are keeping an eye on it to see how it progresses after radiation. I know what you are going through. My sympathies and best wishes for you and yours.

I lost my wife of 48 years to the same cancer. She passed on July 14th at 0445. We were lucky enough to live only two hours from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She was diagnosed with stage 3-4 in April 2009 and they had enough hats and rabbits to give a decent quality of life for 5 years. Good luck. I know it's pricy.

That's a tough deal for you both to handle ... I wish you strength in doing so.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
