I was going to add one of those to my next jetpens order. I'm such a sucker for cheap mini fountain pens!

Looks like a nice pocket/purse pen.

I already have my Ohto Tasche for my pocket pen, otherwise it would fit the bill, and cheap too.

I have a Kaweco Classic and a TWSBI Mini and I swap them out each weekend, leaving the office with one or the other in my pants pocket on Friday. If the Chibi quality is good enough, I'd be glad to move to a 3-week rotation.

Price is right. I'm using a Pilot Elite from Speerbob as my mini-pen right now. Really nice, but a tad more expensive than the Chibi.

Maybe on my next Jetpens order. :-)

  • 2 years later...

I have one of these, which I guess are done by JetPens with Regal, rather than Chibi.

I am using it with diamine sapphire ink; I am amazed with it. The Regal EF nib is just great:

it is smooth, fairly wet with that ink, and lays down a clean, sharp line.

Highly recommended!

I have one. It's a decent little pen. The nib seems to be a European medium. It isn't spectacular, but is worth more than what you pay for it. It worked straight out of the box. It is very similar to the J. Herbin. In fact I had a J. Herbin rollerball and I could swap the section, barrel and cap among each. The biggest downside to it is that the clip is plastic. I have a bad habit of fiddling with plastic clips and breaking them. So far I've managed to restrain myself.

I like these little guys!

Fun fact: I was able to put on a Noodler's Nib Creaper nib and have a decent (if not amazing) flex pen. Also, the Monteverde Mini Converter fits them well.

I have one and like it a lot. I might try Waski's Nib Creaper trick. Thanks for suggesting it, Waski.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
