Which color do you like better?

Asa Gao :P

 

If I were to choose between these three, I think Kobe #50 (based on the more bluish hue), although I find it to be a little bit too light for EF nibs.

Cheers. I've got some Maya Lapis and Island Blue but am having trouble finding anything exceptional about them. They seem like decent "safe" blues that don't have a strong punch and don't shade extremely well. I keep trying them but can never finish a converter with either.

Hi XiaoMG, I've only had the Maya Lapis for a couple of days but it has quickly become one of my favorite blues. I have it in a flexi nib and I'm using it on Rhodia and the effect is pure magic. The reddish sheen against the vibrant blue makes it look like the blue letters are on fire!

Maya is just normal (average) flow. However it's not that different from Asa Gao in color to warrant having both.

Right now, I have neither.. I only sampled. Nevertheless, I probably have enough blue samples to get me through the next year.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
