Legal Lapis is a specialty ink only sold at Pendemonium. I would give them a shout to see if they will have it again anytime soon.

Shoot them an email at info@pendemonium.com

Knowing Tardiff, I'm surprised that he didn't call it the Tragedy of the Commons.

At 532 bottles in stock, it's obviously not a "hot seller." Reminds me of the line "Due to overwhelming demand, we have extended our sale." Which should read: "Due to the fact that nobody bothered to show up, we need to keep trying to sell this stuff."

The Missing Pen sold a distinct ink called "Prussian Blue". If he shipped you Legal Lapis, it due to an error or miscommunication. I would encourage you to contact him if you are dissatisfied.

Legal Lapis is sold exclusively by Pendemonium so I am unsure as to how such a mix-up occurred. I agree that it is a nice ink; in fact, I would say it is a great ink. It is my only "blue" ink. I have never found it to be thick, so I think you got something else in a Legal Lapis bottle.

Legal Lapis is sold exclusively by Pendemonium in the United States. It has been offered to interested international dealers, as availability allows.

I was quite happy with the ink sent. I liked the colour, so didnt feel the need to complain.

I suppose the word "thick" is subjective. Noodlers inks, because of the source ingredients, and that they are very saturated, to me, look a lot thicker and gloopier than other inks, such as MB, Diamine etc.

For example, I find Noodlers Black "thick" compared to Sheaffer Black.

Yep, agree, much like the UK exclusive inks were also offered to the Goulets.

I bought a bottle of Prime of the Commons from a vendor in the UK (who no longer has any), and I really like it.

The color is almost identical to Legal Lapis.

The neat thing about Prime is that it works with papers that won't accept other fountain pen inks. A relatively common problem that I don't recall seeing discussed here is that ordinary inks won't 'take' on papers that have commercial printing on them - for example, covers of paperback books. But Prime wil adhere to paper that is preprinted commercially, allowiing me to write my name on the book cover.

Glad you approve :)

Thanks for your kind words and support of Noodler's Ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
