Pilot Mr At Walmart

Today I had to stop at Wallworld for something and noticed a display for Pilot MR pens that had fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints. I am on a purchase lock-down but thought I'd post in case someone was interested in one.

Kbeezie - any sign of the pens in Michigan? going over this weekend and am curious...

Nada, only place that even has a fountain pen shown is Staples here and it's the usual Parker, Cross, Sheaffer ones.

Also I'm on the west coast of Michigan, not the Detroit side.

Ok, I had to look at a map when you said West Coast and Michigan in the same sentence! I never found any FP's in the wild in Detroit or the suburbs outside of Paradise Pen and the last guy there who referred to pens as jewellery had me shaking my head. Oh well - pen show in 2 weeks!

Here in SoCal - it was on an end cap with just Pilot pens, and then on the far side of the display, and all of 1 fountain pen (yellow banded black box) with lots and lots of gel and ball points. $12.97. Medium point, with the squeeze me converter and one cartridge of ink. I prefer a finer nib, but a very, very smooth nib nonetheless. So, anyone hunting for this, look for an end cap display of just Pilot pens.

I also saw them here in Columbus. I don't remember the price exactly, but it was near what has been posted elsewhere. Here, there were a few fountain pens on the end cap.

In the far right corner suddenly has a new post of a item called "Pilot Pen." I guess that is Metro. Well I hope that is true. The ID number was pilotpen######## and that was on the post. # = numbers I don't remember. Well glad they stocked the Plumix. For 17 USD. ....

They removed the Plumix a while back.

The store is staples. The staples that I fought with so I can get more black and red notebooks.

Every time I go to Waly world I check, and never a fountain pen in sight here in north TX.

If you don't find the Pilot display in "your" Walmart this may be a "test" program.

It is quite common to have a "test" before a buyer commits the space in every store for an item or items they do not have personal experience/results in. Believe me, vendors clamor for any space in a WalMart. An opening order for the whole chain can be HUGE. WalMart and Target avoid mistakes by testing.

Depending on the results (which will be closely monitored) they may expand to another wider group or location of stores or go company wide in the case of rapid sales. WalMart and Target are VERY good at this.

End caps are normally not permanently "Planogrammed" - meaning they don't have a permanent display commitment. I know the OP did not mention where in the assortment it was displayed. But normally a test display would be placed on an end cap so as not to destroy the continuity of the regular program.

They may only be up for a limited time. So if the Pilot at $11.97 fits your wants and is in your WalMart- might get it before it's gone. Endcaps are changed often. Often vendors "Pay" for the space by virtue of huge discounts or fees.

I recently bought 4 Pilot Metropolitans for $10.00/ each (free ship) during a Staples online sale this summer. I first bought 2, and they were so smooth, I bought 2 more the following week. They went back up in price just after this.

>>> Just checked Staples now and the regular color Metropolitans are all $17.29 / 17.99 and the animal print ones are $14.99. (Search: Pilot Metropolitan). You can usually get free shipping by setting up an online account. I am 45 miles from the nearest Staples.

On another note the odor from the foam in the pencase was so strong (and objectionable) I wondered if they were closing them out to get new stock. Hopefully - "yours" will be NSNO (new stock and no odor - LOL).

Anything can happen in the crazy world of retail. I spent over 40 years in the industry and still am amazed how it constantly changes.

Found them here in Colorado Springs. Bought the last one. Asked a store employee and they said Christmas they plan to have more then. We'll see.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
