Where Can I Buy Large Or Broad Nibs For Jinhao X750 And The 159?

I have tried, unsuccessfully so far, to find a source for truly Large nibs to replace my current ones. When I bought the 750 I thought I was getting a large nib but this is a Fine in my opinion. When I got my 450 I was delighted with the nib since it was truly large.

All thoughts appreciated.

Try eBay as there is a vendor offering, at auction, 5 #6 Jinhao nibs with a low dollar starting point.

Goulet, Knox, and Nemosine nibs will also fit and come in a range of sizes. Noodler's has some, too.

I'm successfully using the Goulet #6 nibs in several Jinhao X750 pens. IMHO, they are a nice upgrade from the Jinhao ones.

Same here with Goulet nibs. I buy stubs.

Do you think there us a chance the Goulet nibs will fit the 450 and the 159 too?

They sure do - though I think the bicolour nibs look better on the x450, and the straight stainless steel in 159 and x750.

I agree 100%. Love the two-tone nibs in the x450.

I am surprised at this, because the nibs in the X-750, X-450 and 159 all have the same size and design nib, with the exception that the X-450 has some gold plating.

In the older X-450s the nib can look bigger because it is fitted to a 6.5mm feed that doesn't insert into the section as far as the newer models. This leaves more nib and feed showing, and therefore looks larger.

However, all current and new stock X-750, X-450 and 159 nibs are fitted to a 6mm feed, inserted deeper into the section.

As well, all the nibs have the same 0.7mm tip size, and write a little narrower than a European Medium (allowing for variation in manufacture). So, you could call these nibs a Medium-Fine.

xFountainPens.com sells a range of replacement nibs to fit 5 and 6mm feeds. I haven't bought from them so I can't comment on their service, but other users seem to be happy with them.

You can buy nib, feed and converter sets for the 6mm Jinhao pens here on eBay, as well as gold-plated Jinhao nibs here and chrome-plated ones here.

I have bought all three, and can confirm that they are all the same size and fit the same feed.

  Have placed 2 or 3 orders and they ship pretty quickly. Received a pen with a marred/scratched section and a replacement was sent out the same day.

Little bit off topic, But I'm running a Goulet EF nib in my 159.

Inked up with Aurora black, it's currently my favourite fine pen!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
