I found a couple of different pictures of the green and purple:

Does anyone know if the nib on these pens is the larger size like those Omas uses for the Paragon pens, or the smaller size that they use on the Milord?

'Got one! It is the wettest writer that I have ever encountered, and for regular use I have switched to OMAS' own ink, which seems to be rather better behaved. But the great thing is that it can write fast - really fast - and still be pleasant to use. I got one as a treat for myself, and I'm actually writing for work with it; that's a recommendation of a sort. It's certainly not a run-of-the-mill mediocrity, and that's got a lot to be said for it too. If you're curious to see the first fruits of my attempts to scribble neatly with it, there's a hand-written review right here: http://scribbledemonboddo.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/omas-ogiva-alba-m-extra-flessible-2015.html

The purple is darker in real life. Mine has now gone back and I await a replacement. :(

I assume you must have received your replacement by now. :)

Does it work fine now? Is everything OK?

I've recently ordered an Ogiva Vintage Alba in purple, with an extra-fine extra-flessibile nib. It looked like a good idea at the time, as the pen looked so gorgeous in pictures, especially with the flexible nib. But I must confess I didn't know much about Omas fountain pens, and now I'm starting to worry as I keep stumbling upon ink leak reports. Are they usually known to start leaking sooner or later?

Are these pens akin to Italian cars? That is, extremely beautiful and fun to drive, but prone to break down when you least expect it? Should I worry about it?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
