Please Help Identify This Parker

Recommended Posts

I would appreciate some help in figuring out exactly what this is.

The clip says: Pat Sep 5-16 Parker

The barrel says: Geo. S. Parker Pen - Made In USA Patented

The nib says: Parker Lucky Curve Pen, 2, Made In USA, and has a Christmas Tree Feed.

It is 114.5mm capped or 4.50 inches. It measures 12.31mm or .48 inches over the cap where it meets the barrel.

I weighs 13.0g or .46 ounces.

No markings on either cap top.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Glenn

Hi

Its more likely a Raven (Black and Gold).

I have the single ringed version which I bought from the late 'old Griz'.

Not too common.

Still building up my knowledge of early parkers.

regards

Gents,

I had looked at that page that Hooker linked, but only gave it a quick glance originally.

Based on this passage from Tony's site, linked above, my barrel imprint being exactly that shown below and no Lucky Curve banner, and the fact that my pen does not have lengthwise stripes, I'm going to go with it being a 1930 or 1931 Raven Black and Gold.

Thanks again for everybody's help. I love this bar place!

http://parkerpens.net/images/anfanger/t.jpghe 1929 Parker catalogue depicts the Black and Gold pens with either two cap bands (following the 1928 Duofold redesign) or no cap bands. They cost $3.50 and $2.75, respectively. They had now lost the lenghtwise stripes, but still had the Lucky Curve banner. This changed in the 1930 catalogue, when the imprint read

Geo S Parker Pen made in USA
Patented

They were also renamed http://parkerpens.net/images/redarrow.gif"Raven Black and Gold". Hence the collectors today usually refer to the lined black and gold pens as the "DQ" and the smooth ones as the "Raven". The Ravens were also streamlined, again following the Duofold design.
In 1932 the Black and Gold pens was yet again redesigned. They again sported the "DQ" lines and all had a thin gold band, replacing the earlier models.

Thank you sir, and everyone else for your help. That was the only delusion conclusion I could come to based on the information everyone provided.

Florida Blue and Ricky are correct. It is a very good quality pen

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
