I'd grad that rhodium one in a heartbeat but it comes with the gold nib instead of the usual rhodium plated one. Boo

The prices do tend to change it seems based on the amount of attention the product gets.

The least expensive offering on the Raden provided from your link was $303.

Was under $200 when I posted the link. The prices change frequently.

The fine point was $207 when I had checked. I was super tempted to get it!

Guessing 'fine' nibbed versions aren't popular enough that they need to clear out their inventory of them with discounts or something (they seem to be popping up with that discount on Amazon nearly every couple of months, usually only in the fine nib).

Do a search, as this has been mentioned recently already on here, as well as a few months before that.

For international buyers. the new offer that's just come up on Massdrop may prove a little cheaper in terms of postage - at least if you want a Fine or Medium nib

Only one committed so far (that's me!) - with 30 needed to reach the minimum price...

114 still ain't bad even if it's not fully 'unlocked'. And $20 add on isn't too bad for the price of the ink (bout $2 to $8 savings depending on *which* ink you want).

I'm partial to the blue carbonesque, and between the two Black Carbonesque or Matte Black, I would lean more towards the matte black.

Yeah, I guess that's right - still, I'll stick with "committed" for now and see if we can get to the minimum price. Have added a bottle of ink, too: even with the weaker (for now) Australian dollar, that's an incredible price. It sells for around AU$50 a bottle over here...

I might pick up the carbonesque since the mrs has made my matte black her own.

I reckon so - 5 more buyers (or 'committers'??) will get us across the threshold...

Raden Galaxy broad is $232 on amazon, awfully tempting...

... that is tempting. Especially if you already own a VP with a different size nib unit.

I don't know why you would need a different nib unit...My VP broad is one of the best nibs I've used.

Some people have personal preferences, fine, broad, etc. Like I may only prefer one kind of ink with my fine, but like another with a broad. Course I've not tried anything above a 18K Medium on a VP. Though I've been curious about the Broad if it's anything like a western medium.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
