And I'm liking this this actually possible the Best feeling Ball point I had in a while. This pen is small but doesn't feel small. That said I didn't buy this pen. I got it from the package from Peyton Street Pens with my order of the Sheaffer Statesman (?) with the Snorkel filling system and the Triumph nib. (seriously why is this nib shaped like a broken nib.)

I wonder have any of of you guys had a similar feeling after picking up one random Ball Point that you that that BP is meant to be together.

No, I won't give up FPs. I have too many inks and pens to give up FPs for a single BP.

This BP says Made in USA :) Go American Pride!

Just a side question where do I find the refills for this pen?

#Nope

I have an old Caran d'Ache ballpoint, an Ecridor I think. That has a Schneider Slider 755XB refill and is the only ballpoint I will use.

Modern Sheaffer refills will work, also the Sheaffer compatible ones made by Monteverde.

When I was first getting into "fine writing instruments" I got a few ballpoints that took Parker gel refills. My favorite is the Pelikan K400 White Honey Tortoise ballpoint. I also have the rollerball and fountain pen. I just love that finish. The only thing I'm missing is the pencil. I wasn't much of a pencil person when I got these, but now I'm into pencils, too. It would be pretty pricey though to complete my set.

I love my Parker Jotter in 1.0 BP, but have recently decided that I'd much rather use Parker's gel refills in it. They write so much nicer for me...sadly, I now have a Jotter BP refill that it will take me YEARS to use, lol.

My Waterman Hemisphere in RB is like this too....LOVE the feel, the line it puts down, everything. Fountain pens are my pen of choice these days, but I still use the Jotter (but now with gel refill) and Waterman at work sometimes. The Cross BP refills I have for my vintage Century will likely never get used, as I just don't like the feel anymore -- they require so much pressure and effort in comparison with Gel, RB or FP that I just disdain using it now. And I have THREE refills for it...ugh. Kind of stinks because I love the pen itself...

You are right, I have one from a 330 set bought in Peyton, delicious click and clack in clip whenever we are using it.

Before I got into fountain pens, I used several Cross pens. I found their refills to write terrible - as you mention, it takes quite a bit of pressure and even then they still leave skippy ink trails. SpacePen makes refills that will fit Cross pens and they are much, much, much better.

I want one of those Schaeffer ballpoint pens with the square (trapezoidal) knocks.

What happened to that picture? I thought that was on this thread, no?

Anyone know what those are called?

Ballpoints have their place in the big scheme of things too :)

@Icywolfe, I've tried the Monteverde refills that are Sheaffer compatible. They work pretty good. But some report leaking. I've never seen it though.

Here's a link to the "The Epic Refill Reference Guide: Rollerball, Gel and Ballpoints" at The Well Appointed Desk:

Get a "vintage" Made in USA Parker Jotter in brushed SS w/Gold plated furniture. A classic that goes anywhere. The build quality is so much better than the Jotters of today.

@Martinbir, I too have a the same ballpoint, the Caran d'Ache Ecridor. Mine is in the vintage "Maya" spiral pattern. It is a well built pen mechanically but I'm tired of fighting with the tarnish on the finish. It is a high maintenance pen for a ballpoint IMO due to the silver finish. It's also pretty short.

@sharon888, Your K400 White Honey Tortise is stunning. I'm looking for a Pelikan K400 ballpoint. I have a K200 in black. A really nice ballpoint but a little too small. I also have the flagship K800 ballpoint in classic black/green-striated tortoise. But I find the the K800 to be too top heavy because of the twist mechanism. It is a beautiful ballpoint though. I'm thinking maybe the K400 would be the sweet spot when it comes to Pelikan ballpoints.

@TheRealScubaSteve, Cross ballpoint refills are pretty bad in my experience. But there are compatible refills from third-parties that fix that. Again, try Monteverde. The Cross branded rollerballs are pretty good in comparison. A shiny chrome finish Cross ATX rollerball is an everyday pick-up-and-go pen here. The ATX design is superb, but the cap doesn't post very securely due to the streamlined shape. For some reason, every once in awhile I actually use and like my small thin Cross Classic Century in 18K rolled gold... go figure. I have a couple of old limited edition Cross Townsend ballpoints that are built really well, but for some reason they just don't get me going.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
