Fountain Pen Supplies In Singapore

Norsk24

Recommended Posts

So I've been looking around for reasonably price fountain pen supplies (more specifically ink and nibs) but the only places I've been able to find in Singapore, from personally going out and walking around, are Popular branches and Kinkuniya in Ngee Ann City. While Popular have a reasonable amount of supplies they don't have enough variety to suit my needs and usually only carry two or three different inks and I can never manage to find nib. On the other hand Kinokuniya carries a some pretty good spread of ink but I still want to try more. Also I'm not sure about even trying the Lamys they carry because their prices aren't comparative to what I could find easily when I was living in the states. If you guys could give me any tips about where I could find things around Singapore it would be much appreciated!

(I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum to be posting this in since I'm not very accustom to navigating this site yet so please forgive me if its not)

- Thanks again

Also another thing to note is that I've had a bad experience with the Popular branch at Marine Parade. They tried selling me some Parker Quink that was used, open, half-empty leaking in the box, saying thats how it was supposed to be when I've bought Parker Quink in that states and never had something like that happen.

I usually get my stuff at Fook Hing's at Bras Basah Complex

Small retail outlet, friendly.

You can try Fook Hing and Straits Pen. Fook Hing is in Bras Basah Complex, which is the same building as Popular Bras Basah. Sunny from Straits Pen often comes to the pen meets, so those would be an alternative to finding him in his office.

Thanks for the link! I didn't know there were that many places in Singapore, what a nice surprise. :D

Thank you! Also, how would I get information on pen meets?

Another vote for Fook Hing's. They offer good service. Another place is Mustafa's. There are at least 3 locations for pens and don't expect any service. You must know what you want. For a small premium, my point of view is that Fook Hings offers good value and shopping experience.

I see Fook Hing's is quite popular, now I really must go check it out. Is Mustafa Centre reliable? I'm just worried that they sell counterfeit pens because of the stories, not related to fountain pens, that I've heard from the stores there.

+1 for Fook Hing. Excellent collection, prices, service. It's my first stop in Singapore these days.

Fook Hing is good. Tokyu Hands might be considered. I normally get my stuff all online though. Saves the hassle of travelling.

My version of the guide for the Pilot Varsity Nib transplantation to the Platinum Preppy

DIY Retractable Fountain Pen (Couldn't get it to work, now refilling Schmidt 888 M refills with FP inks in a Pilot G2 Limited, the ceramic roller tip is as smooth as a Firm FP steel nib, Poor Man's VP I guess)

Actually they sell Lamy pens at great prices. Suspect they parallel import. Quite sure their Pelikan pens are from Pelikan Singapore as I've been referred there. Having said that, for a small premium, go to Fook Hings. They will let you try out the pens and explain things to you.

Ohh I see. I would get things online but a lot of the places I've checked have high shipping prices.

Thats worth checking out to then. Also being able to try out the pen would be great. I can see myself checking out Fook Hings within the next week.

Thank you everyone! :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
