Hello

I had sent my lamy nibs to the Lamy Germany from Turkey. In 1 September it was delivered to Lamy Germany. And today it is 21th day that they receive my pens. When will they send it back to me? And as last; Lamy Gmbh is shipling products with which postage? Do they use deutchland postage? Or something private company?

Don't see why they won't send it by German post...it's just fine. I immagine Turkish post is ok.

They are from what I've read here over the years, a tad slow....but sure.

Well, LAMY does do a bang-up job of servicing pens, but as for their turnaround time... suffice to say that it took around half a year for my 2000 to get shipped to and back from Heidelberg. Part of that was because the customer reps here dallied a bit before shipping it off in the first place, so I don't suppose it's entirely their fault. Turkey is nearer Heidelberg than the Philippines is (3,000km vs 10,500km), so I don't think it'll take very much time for them to have your pen safely back.

Cheers!

Kevin

Sorry, thought another would reply.

Nope, no tracking number for me, really. I just occasionally checked in with the booth clerks and asked how my pen was doing. Then again, as has been suggested by a fellow Filipino in another thread, customer service is hardly top-notch here, so I'm uncertain as to whether or not things in your country will be done more meticulously.

I sent one of my 2000s to Germany a few months ago and it took about six weeks before it was back with me in the UK. Lamy didn't provide any tracking information or any notification that they had sent it back to me.

Whlie I was happy to have the cracked cap replaced for free, I was less than impressed by the fact they returned the pen in nothing more than a jiffy bag with no other protection.

Actually, you were the one I was referring to, Algester. Gomen ne :P

To be perfectly fair, it's just our sharing similar experiences with Times Trading here in the PH. They're very good with communication and the like, it's just that I very nearly forgot I owned a LAMY 2000 after a few months of waiting, haha. The pen came back with the Makrolon barrel all matte and new (though there were scratches around the knob area that I have no idea about) and the nib, which was dry as a bone upon purchase, was a pleasantly wet true Medium width. I've no complaints whatsoever with the quality of their work (QC'ing aside), but the ten or so months I had to wait seemed a bit excessive.

And I kid you not about the wait: I got the 2K as a Christmas gift of sorts, and the flaw manifested itself early into January, after which it was immediately sent back; I got it back just in time for NaNoWriMo that year, though I still didn't get to finish my entry

But as earlier stated, since the OP is a lot closer to Heidelberg, I doubt it'll take that long. Hmm, perhaps you can try contacting them to check up on your pen's status, eyup007? I'm sure they're reply reasonably soon with an ETA.

Cheers!

bleh... indeed half a year's wait is a bit excessive just for flow adjustment (which can still be a hit or miss)... seriously your better of not caring about that 3 year warranty if that was the case

Hum? If it were just flow adjustment, well, I probably would have seen to that myself since I love tinkering with things, which is part of the reason I really, really, really (ad nauseum) like fountain pens, haha. I think I mentioned this in a different thread, but my particular unit had a bit of a problem with the metal section threads: they weren't finished well, and unscrewing the section to give the pen a thorough cleaning sheared the Makrolon ones on the pen's barrel clean off!

Thus, my concern with LAMY QC, haha. Still, the pen came back in excellent working condition with the aforementioned well-tuned nib, a section piece that can be unscrewed without fear of the whole thing coming apart, and a piston knob that turns as if the mechanism was coated in fine butter (or, you know, silicone grease). The wait's perhaps a bit arduous, but at least the pen's back and in good condition.

Cheers!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
