Yeah, you know the drill -- pix or it didn't happen!

I got the chance this past week to try a 51 with what we think is a OB stub (possibly even a OBB). A friend of mine posted a photo of it on Facebook, thinking that it was *also* Plum so I talked him into coming down to a pen club meeting. The short answer: nope, it was Burgundy, not a Plummer -- but the nib was QUITE nice. I'm totally jealous -- and here I thought for the last couple of years I was leaning more into the F nib camp, simply because that's what I've been ending up with, especially for vintage pens. And they do make ink fills last longer, which I discovered in the ink cartridge phase of this little hobby.... :rolleyes:

Ooh, that double broad looks great, I have to try that out some time. Not complaining here, though, with my 51 Special with a fine gold nib, liking it a lot. :)

Parker had nib gauges. Not all were marked the same and used by the same person to size nibs, especially true from one side of the pond to the other.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
