Any common theme that your 5 pens will fit into. Eg: silver, black, minis, maxis, 1910's, ripples, BCHR, metals, gold, smooth, ugly, beauties, cheap, clipless, ringtops, anything to your imagination that fits into any theme. Hope this is a little clearer. Looking forward to see some nice pics. :-)

Five pens, huh? Well, how about you lop off the two on the right, then. I don't want to take another picture. Here are 7 pens - Waterman's from 1895-1905 - BHR with Fine Silver overlays. Much rarer than the Sterling silver overlays. Here you go:

I know what a theme is. So, those are silvery? They looked pretty divergent, and I didn't see commonality.

I do like the composition of the picture. Try not to clip any part though.

It would also look nice in black and white.

I'll have the Edson please.

Me too, but I don't have five Edsons…yet :)

But I'll improvise and create a "Waterman Crime Scene"

Steve, your theme is missing this,

a spent cartridge...

Theme...Waterman Piston Cartridges...all 5 are different and from different eras.

Yes, how could I have missed that! The spent cartridges and semi-automatic converters :)

Those are gorgeous! I am especially intrigued by the keyhole nib and its origin that seems to say "Canada." I'm sure it's been posted before, but is the keyhole breather hole specific to a nib size or style? I know off-topic, but if you have a larger picture of that nib, I'd love to see it :)

I know very little about these older nibs, be they keyhole, round or heart style. This one has F.D.W. stamped on one side and D 14 585 on tother.

These are so beautiful buntoro; unfortunately with my limited experience, I can only recognize the top pen. Are they all silver plated on platinum or sterling?

Five Waterman Pens on a theme.

Show yours. :-)

Have a great weekend, folks!

Force, the nib is gorgeous; thanks for posting. It's strange but I haven't seen one stamped Canada; a link to a video of a keyhole flex nib (USA) is below. Looks like a smooth writer and I assume it has a decent amount of flex.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
