Has Anyone Sent A Pen To Lamy Service Recently?

I have a 2000 with a cracked section. I emailed Lamy a few months back about returning it for service, and was given the following address

Filofax, Inc.
Attn: Lamy Repairs
372 Danbury Road
Suite 171
Wilton, CT 06897

Unfortunately, life got in the way, and it was last week before I got around to actually mailing the pen.

I checked the tracking information a little while ago, and it was reported as "undeliverable as addressed", and it's apparently coming back to me.

I'm going to email them again in the morning to find out what's going on, but I'm just wondering if anyone has sent anything to them recently and if so what the correct address is.

Thanks-I too hope that it turns up!

I'm going to be on the phone with USPS tomorrow to find out what's going on-it was supposed to be delivered(originally) on September 2, and there have been no further tracking updates.

I just sent my 2000 last week. There is a change in address:

I hope your pen turns up!

Hello Penultress,

Thank you for this; I'll have to update my files - all of my warranty slips from Lamy still have the CT address.

Best regards,

Chris

I sent a pen (L2K) in to the Texas address a month or so ago. Had it back in hand about a week after I shipped it out. Most of my request was addressed, but I asked that the piston seal be replaced (due to an apparent laceration on the edge of it) and it wasn't. Feed and o-ring seal were replaced and I was given the replaced parts back as requested. Pen seems to be working fine, though.

You're welcome, Chris! I'm glad this information helps! This is my first time sending a pen in to the manufacturer for repair.

I just sent in my L2K that I picked up at the DC show. I'm told it's from the 80s/90s but I didn't know there were issues with the piston. Mine was sticky from the start and I thought it was from non-use.

Good to hear that it could be a quick turnaround.

I am a new admirer of this pen and hated having to part with it!

Penultress,

It probably just needed some lubrication on the piston, which you can send it in for or learn to do it on your own in the future... They do get a little sticky over time, which is normal behavior.

Thank you, rising sun! I did find the Goulet's video about this but it didn't work for me! It got worse. Ok, maybe I didn't do it properly ...

my country really doesnt have a Lamy service center... <_< >_> yeah.. it's like that were pretty much tied to the wills of supply and demand which means to get a pen "serviced" ITS MONTHS AND MONTHS OF WAIT TIME :X on a 3 year warranty so pretty much... yeah...

Good news-it seems as though my pen managed to make it to the Coppell, TX yesterday at least as per the tracking information. I'm quite relieved that it made it there, and if I have to send it in again in the future will be sure that it goes to the correct address!

I have sent a couple of Lamy 2000's back for service at Filofax. There was an older gentleman who came in two days a week, and he seemed pretty skilled. We would exchange e-mails about what I was looking for and he would get it done. The new service center does not seem to have any really skilled individuals, just folks trained to switch out parts. 'can you adjust the nib for better flow'....'adjust?'. However they have been very willing to trade out nibs and such and the turnaround may be better.

I got my Lamy 2000 back. Yay! And as the piston was stuck on mine, the filling system was replaced. Turnaround time was just under 2 weeks from the moment I posted it.

Is it recommended that I flush it out before using it?

There may be some testing ink remnants left in it. There was in mine when I received it back. A few cycles in clean water and you'll be good to go, though the feed will hold a fair bit of water so you might prop it up on a towel to get some of that out before filling with ink.

Yeah, some people do that with the nib down on a paper towel to let it wick out the water in the feed... I don't follow this practice, but I usually will take apart my L2K after a good cleaning and let the feed dry before reinserting in the section...

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm happy to report that my 2000 arrived back safe and sound this week.

I had mailed the pen in its original box-this was returned to me, but the pen was packed separately in a heavy plastic "syringe" type package. This is a handy enough item that I'm going to save it to mail a pen in the future.

Total turn-around from the time the pen arrived in Texas to the time it was mailed back to me was right at two weeks.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
