not even there. the barrel doesn't touch the metal part of the cap. there is some sort of plastic/rubber type soft material in the cap. i think there has been few different AL. the latest one doesn't have long thread area. only place that has been scuffed is the end of the thread since the cap and the barrel meet there.

I should stop asking questions. I used to hate this pen, but everytime I see it, it grows on me.

I hated the look, and it still doesn't really 'float my boat', but the more I read about this pen, and the more questions I ask, the more I see the practicality of it.

I'm even starting to look for one. Oh my god. I never seen myself wanting one, but people who own this pen (on FPN) don't talk it up for the fun of it.

I seen older posts, where people were saying they bought them for under $20! The cheapest I can find them locally is $42. I'm speaking about the Classic obviously. And the cheapest Al I could find is $80. I still think that is a bit too much.

Tom.

Just discovered today that the AL Sport is a featured deal over at Pen Chalet, using the penaddict code it's $54 w/free shipping! Cancelled my earlier order for it and saving $22 over what I was going to pay, sweet!

I end up using my Muji Aluminum Round as a pen to toss around; Not the smoothest writer and has some feedback, but it's durable, fun for sketching and doodling, and works well for quick notes.

My daily shirt pocket carry:

I also have an Al-Sport, but prefer the plastic edition, much less rotation required to remove the cap and no worries if it's lost or destroyed.

Now that's a seriously roughneck pen.

Thanks to this thread I just ordered a Kaweco AL Sport. Seems like the perfect heavy duty pocket pen.

I confess that I have never owned a Kaweco and also ordered one as a result of this thread.

For a beater pen, the Schrade is hard to beat.

+1 for the Schrade Tactical.

Also, Fisher Space Pen on occasion.

I love my kawecos

Classic sport black and the Calligraphy pen nice and handy.... Hate the converter though... But the Kaweco black in cartridges is nice so I do not bother...

Your bling bling Kaweco looks awesome.... But how a bout greasy finger prints???

Oddly fingerprints and such don't really show on my Kaweco, not sure if it's the surface material or what. Scratches show up sure, but fingerprints, not so much.

I have to agree -- the raw aluminum Kaweco is fantastic as a pocket pen. I have a medium point and it writes nice and wet, which means frequent filling of the cartridges. However, using the Goulet syringes, it's really not too bad.

Overall, very handy to have in a pocket!

stop tempting me I don't have the pen budget so even the temptation instantly stops :3 plus I'm still saving up the funds for my sister's 3776 century after she passes her board exam DESPITE BEING A NEET

How much she asking for it? (Reason I asked is because you can get one brand new shipped for $90 or a couple dollars less than that, but not sure if shipping to Philippines would be less, or if customs would charge for that price)

Pilot Metro. I have 5 of them that I rotate through. The silver and bronze are the most regular in the rotation because I think they will show damage the least.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
