M101N Tortise Shell Red-What Ink Will You Use In It?

When these are finally released and you get yours delivered . . . What ink are you planning to use with it. Even if you aren't purchasing the pen, what color would you match with it? I'm hoping for a chance to have one, but just can't figure out what ink would be the coolest with it.

Let's hear what you think!

My first choice would be Pelikan Edelstein Garnet, but I've got that in an M600 red stripe .....

So either have to get those replies off to my snailies and empty that pen, have another look through my inks - or do the unthinkable and have two pens filled with the same ink.

Non red ink if it's got an ink window. Purple is a no no too, for ink windows....unless you use the ink quickly and clean it out well.

Take half a load of ink, so you can clean it out sooner.

A lot of good suggestions, thank-you very much.

Personally, I'm debating the old Waterman Encre Rouge (red) I still have just less than 1/2 a bottle of, or Noodler's Nikita. Since I have had the Waterman for so long, it has become very saturated as I typically only use it at Christmas time.

Keep the ideas coming!

reds:

  • Sheaffer Skrip red (I understand that the Sheaffer red does not stain)
  • Waterman red
  • Diamine Red Dragon

orange:

  • Diamine Orange
  • Noodlers Apache Sunset
  • PR Orange Crush

disclaimer, I have only used the orange inks with a dip pen. I have read about deposits/crud forming on the nib from the ink particles.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

Initially Burgundy Rose from the Diamine flower set, which looks an almost perfect match to me. When I get bored with that, probably blue blacks with Oxblood on high days and holidays.

Well I finally got a red tortie yesterday, and in the meantime I'd got some Organics Studio's F. Scott Fitzgerald, and it's a rather nice match!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
