P.w. Akkerman Ink

Don't know if this should go on Inks or Marketplace, posting it here, I guess.

For anniversary gift my husband and I are getting two Parker 75 Cisele fountain pens. We saw that The Fountain Pen Recycler, a local store, had at least one of them in F nib like I wanted. We went to the store yesterday to pick up the pen and bought a Targa and a Waterman too. Surprisingly, I found out he also carries in store and online the Akkerman Ink. I bought the last one he had, but he said he's getting more soon. So for anyone interested I'm posting his web site. He has them locally in the Minneapolis area and he also ships. Personally I'll be checking next week to see if he got his shipment and has other colors. He only had one black one left and I snapped it up,

Happy Anniversary! I hope you both enjoy the pens. I got a bottle of the Simplicity Violet in DC

Vanness Pens had a booth at DCSS this year and sold out of several of the Akkerman colors quite quickly apparently. I didn't get stuff from them, but I did get three bottles in the FPN group buy organized by Jared -- #9 (Laan van Nieuw Oost Indigo), #10 (IJzer Galnoten, their iron gall ink), but and #19 (Rood Haags Pluchte). Like them all a whole lot. Plus I got to try almost all the rest of their line because of samples at the ink testing table.

Thanks! I just inked the Parker and the Targa, they write well.

I forget to check FPN sometimes due to a few other hobbies. I missed out on the group buy. I thought it was ironic that I was thinking it would be difficult for me to get a hold of Akkerman inks and they were so close, hehehe.

I hear that Vanness now has a new stock of Akkerman inks! Great folks and great service!

Thank you for the positive feedback! We did just get in a new supply. We will be taking it on the road to Dallas at the end of the month, I can't imagine it will be near as crazy as DC. - but we are ready!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
