Pen T O D - Your Dream Pen.

Let's dream big...

Pelikan M1000 maki-e Seaside with an OBB nib, tuned for a steep writing angle:

-or-

Nakaya Ascending Dragon Deskpen in aka-tame gin bokashi, left oblique Broad nib.

http://home.comcast.net/~baric/images/nakaya-deskpen.jpg

On the more affordable side, a Montblanc 149 90th Anniversary edition, but only if i can find it for a more reasonable price, $800+ for this pen too much in my opinion.

I love the Pelikan maki-e pens but the Ascending Dragons desk pen has been one of my dream pens since I first saw it at nibs.com. My ultimate dream pen, however, is the Namiki Emperor Crane. It's a thing of surpassing beauty.

Grace and Peace are already yours because God is the Creator of all of life and Jesus Christ the Redeemer of each and every life.

I have a dozen or so black walnuts in the orchard. Next time one needs to be felled I'll stabilize some wood and have a pen turned from that. Also going to rescale my kitchen knives with it too.

Montblanc Black Widow 88. I'll likely never even see one in person, but they are lovely to me.

Attainable and in my recent dreams is a Sailor King of Pen with a King Eagle nib. What a fun pen it is to write with.

Frank C let me doodle with his KOP and I fell in love. The only problem is the small amount of ink that converter holds when that pen just consumes ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Go to a pen show. IIRC, I saw the Black Widow in LA at the show. You'd be amazed at what you'll see.

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

I was in a Montblanc boutique yesterday and the beauty of the pens took my breath away. I've been given a 90th anniversary 146 for my birthday by an outrageously lovely and generous friend, and that had been a pen I had dreamed of owning so I'm still in shock that I actually have one. If money was no object though I'd totally get the purple Princess Grace Montblanc pen.

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

Hello Skylar and Everyone else,

My dream pen is a New Old Stock Parker Duofold from the 1920s/1930s in the original box and buying it for the original price. :)

To answer your second question; how it would make me feel: :cloud9:

Best regards,

Chris

PININFARINA CARBONGRAFITE

Oh wow, that's a nice one

First, I'd like to thank Skylar for starting this. Then I'd like to voice my frustrations over these objects of desire to subvert my fevered dreams! How dare you heathens add to the misery of longing for objects unobtainable.

And back to first. Thank you Skylar, you have given us all another platform to begin the quest for our inky grails.

Paul

You're welcome, Paul! And I'm sorry for all the misery we're causing you! <\3

This.

Unfortunately, I really need to buy a new car...

It's pretty! But I actually prefer the pen they have on their logo ;)

Please keep going with the thread, and if you add a picture (or a few ;) ) It's ever better!

I'm surprised only a few vintage pens made the list, so I'll add the ones I still dream of acquiring:

1940 (First Year) Parker "51" Vac

1946-47 Red Band filler Parker "51"

Mustard Parker "51"

I'm a train buff and that's an Orient Express pen. It's WAY too much money.

I have to admit that I've "fondled" a few pens that really impress me. The Aurora 88 demonstrator, the Sailor King of Pens with the insanely stacked nib, and the Sheaffer pen that is currently in my hand and is on loan from DCPritch.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I like the Nakaya Neo Standard Aka-tamenuri. I've even set myself a savings plan to build up the cash for it. But, realistically, I know that I would never pay that amount of money for a pen. Once I have built up the savings for this pen, I know that I will spend that money on something else.

After Pablo left a link to the Nakaya website I spent some time there and I realized that if I win the lottery I might be able to secure John Mottishaw's retirement :yikes:

For a long time, I pined for the Pelikan Toledo M900.

It was, I thought, an unobtainable goal, but then a used one appeared at a local pen store. The store owner and I jousted at length over the price, and I finally succumbed to the purchase. The pen was and is everything that I had wanted, and then with a John Mottishaw ground italic nib installed, it glides over paper like a sharp skate on crisp fresh ice, with a motion that carves precise lines in pre-determined arcs. I don't use this pen everyday, as I travel for work heavily, and the thought of the pen disappearing at a TSA checkpoint instills deep dread, but every single time that I use the pen, it instills a deep sigh of pleasure and enjoyment.

Bliss can be found in the everyday world.

For a vintage pen, it's a second generation Wahl Eversharp Doric with a wet noodle nib; pretty much what's in the OP's 2nd video, but without the adjustable nib.

For a modern pen, it's a Nakaya of some sort- so many choices I've yet to narrow down.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
