That Guy, Bryant, Is Nothing* But An Enabler

With a little advice from Bryant (PenTime/Chatterley Luxuries) to help me get off the fence about what nib size to select, I just hit "Pay" on a grail pen. In the past few weeks I've sold off a significant portion of my collection. I banked most of it, but some of it went to this pen. My entire collection now consists of 9 Viscontis and 3 other pens.

So, to all other pen sellers, I may not have any $ for pens for a while, and it's all Bryant's fault

I haven't been buying pens for a long while now, and the pens I did buy were Nakayas, which Bry doesn't sell (but if he ever does...!), but I have nothing but praise for him. Sometimes folks ask me about sources for hard-to-find pens, and I always recommend Bry.

He kindly tested a Bronze HS for me before shipping it. Lovely pen, nice guy.

Class act, good guy and a friend. Oh and he convinced me it is OK to spend over 1000 for a pen. He is a good guy.

Best to all and Bry....

Excellent seller. I wish he stocked more brands, but he has come out with some breathtakingly stunning limited edition pens. I bought both of his Omas sterling and vermeil limited edition pens, which cost me a small fortune, but worth it.

I also now have three of his Delta limited editions, costing me another small fortune. :yikes:

I don't regret a single purchase.

great seller, great prices, but please stop coming out with so many tempting LE Italian pens! It's so hard to resist.

Buy with confidence from Bryant.

I concur. I've bought a pen a year ago from him. He made several pictures of different pens for me so I could estimate their relative sizes. Very nice guy.

I just got a Red Divina and a Chatterly Skeleton from Bryant - and will be picking up a Delta Momo next month. So yeah, I hear you about his enabling.

Dennis @ La Couronne is another enabler!

I highly recommend him for buying new pens.

He is the best seller I had dealt with and each time was a pleasure.

A few minutes ago I was asking him about some pens and writing samples and he's done that.

I have bought a few pens in the past and some were returned within a few days of no questions asks policy and tried many pens but no fuss.

I agree, he is an enabler for sure.

I'm upto three Visconti & three LE Chatterley Deltas so far.

Also like the flair & pizzazz of Bryant's thank you notes.

If you haven't looked into the contingency sale goodies he offers...good stuff made affordable. In nib sizes you often can't get elsewhere. Not that I'm a stub junky or anything

My Visconti Cosmos got here today. Bryant gave it a good inspection before he sent it, and it's gorgeous and writes wonderfully.

This is great because I need to be enabled. In rather the same way I need another hole in my head.

(I haven't purchased from him yet, but do troll the website. :D )

Very nice! I debated between the blue and the black versions for a long time before deciding on the black, and Bryant was kind enough to photograph all the ones he had on hand so I could pick one with the pattern I liked best.

Bryant is definitely one of the good guys - if you can consider a pusher who you keep willingly giving your money to a good guy! In all seriousness, I've bought some great pens from Bry - a couple/three Deltas, a Loiminchay, and a very hard to find MontBlanc Turbo (sentimental reasons) he managed to find. He does great nib work as well. Fast shipping and super low prices for grail pens. Doesn't get much better!

  • 2 weeks later...

Slight hijack, but has anyone been in touch with Bryant recently? I sent him an email late last month and earlier this month, but have not heard back from him yet. He usually replies within a few hours, if not sooner.

Bryant was impacted by the flooding in AZ caused by that wayward hurricane. It wouldn't surprise me if he is still dealing with some puddles. He was able to get my Aurora with an italic nib in the mail the day after the big downpour, however.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
