Ah, ya just gotta love those murky greens! I like to call them olive drab greens. Like Army fatigues were colored in days gone by.

 

They are butt ugly bugs, those cicadas. Louder than a brass band, too, if you are camping in the Black Hills when they emerge and sing to each other, looking for a bride or groom with which to start a family. Not only that - they will climb onto your sleeping bag with you in it, in the dark of night, and molt their skin, which stays attached to where they were when they crawl or fly away in their new configuration. As you awake from your sweaty, fitful slumber (it is August, after all), and put your arms out of your sleeping bag to start getting up, your arms and then your hands brush across these "things" that are horrid and buggy and crackly and you try to jump out of bed still inside your bag, screaming and flailing and hopping frantically, trying to shoo these things off, but they won't move... Almost 40 years later and I still rather hate the nasty little creatures.

 

Edited to add: As always, great review and comparisons, Amber. The two colors are as close as identical can be.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
