The New Postal is based on the patented design of the Postal Reservoir Pen, sold during the late 1920s by the Postal Pen Company in New York. This outstanding Gate City fountain pen was created by Richard Binder and is made in the US by skilled craftsman who fit each part together by hand to ensure the highest quality. The New Postal bulb filler holds an incredible 3.2 ml of ink, which is typically three times more than the average modern day fountain pen. Fitted with top quality German made JoWo nibs in either steel or 18k gold (optional upgrade) - this is a very classy pen for those with discriminating tastes. Available exclusively at Indy-Pen-Dance.

Could we see a picture of the pen capped please? Your site shows the first pen as having an orange barrel and on the 3rd slide the barrel is red. Are there 2 options? Also what is/are the body material/s? Finally, what nib sizes can be ground to cursive italic please?

As much as I dislike demonstrator type pens this is the first time I am drawn to one :).

Many thanks and stay well,

Solomon

The third photo showing a red tint was after the ink that was in the pen was dumped out to show the volume of ink that it held. The lighting was much different in that image as well. The main image of the pen is the correct color and the only one that it comes in. We totally neglected to get a capped shot of the pen and will get a couple various shots once we get the photo booth set back up. As for the cursive italic grinds, the fine will produce about a .4mm line width and the broad is going to be about .8mm. So all to answer your question all sizes except the extra fine can be ground to a cursive italic. The New Postals are made from cast acrylic.

I had ordered mine the day i read about this on FPN - 0.8 CI steel nib. I already have a couple of Postals, so I knew what to expect pen-wise, but i am really, really impressed with the nib. Binderesque in its line variation and smoothness.

Thank you for a lovely custom grind, Linda! I hope that you guys release a lot more Gates City models in the future!

True bliss: knowing that the guy next to you is suffering more than you are.

Thank you for the kind words Vandit. A little birdie has said that the New Dunn in both black and the Tattler versions just might be right around the corner.

Hi, Linda!

When I was in your town last weekend, I stopped to see Susan at Avalon, and she let it slip that the New Dunn might be back. Great to hear it!

Question - Do you also do filler repairs (probably non-warranty) on the New Dunn, or do I still have to shuttle it back to Richard?

Steve - Yes we are able to do repairs, both warranty and non-warranty. If you would contact us through our website we will get your New Dunn back into tip top shape.

I like the idea that the New Dunn may be coming again. I'd been thinking of getting one and then "poof" gone from Richard Binders site.

And I like this New Postal, though I'm a bit concerned about the size. I have a Lamy 2000 and that feels too "thick" to me. I prefer my Edison Beaumont and the Menlo works well also.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
