Hey everyone,

Just wanted to thank you all for educating me for my first FP purchase. My Lamy 2000 finally came in the mail today with a bottle of Diamine Eclipse! Can't wait to ink it up! Now, I have to wait for my Platinum 3776 Century. I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot more pens... Uh-oh...

Gratz on your new pen! Would be nice to see a review or some writing pictures. Show it off!

Haha! Who would want to go to FP Rehab anyways? Although that is what most people who need rehab say...

Wish List: TWSBI Diamond 580.

I'm trying to imagine what FP Rehab would even be... being forced to only use Bic Cristals for weeks on end?

How about mechanical pencils?

How about mechanical pencils?

Aw, are they really so bad? Sometimes you do NEED to use a pencil... though I actually haven't used one since I started using FPs.

Another idea: you would be forced to use the WORST-nibbed pens on the MOST FEATHERY PAPER. Tortuous. And then the pen would start leaking all over or something. That could turn many people off of fountain pens pretty quickly, probably...

More on topic: congrats on your new Lamy 2000! That's super exciting. I hope it treats you well! Also, I totally have a 3776 Century and it is just a dream to write with.

Hello Tinysnail,

Nah, it's nothing like that all - I've been through it a few times. They make you use crummy fountain pens that clog, skip and stall. After a couple of weeks of that, you're begging for a Bic Cristal. :D

The only problem is, after a few months or a year of using other pens, the monkey keeps jumping on your back.

Best regards,

Chris

Did you really just go there? I thought we're talking about rehabilitation facilities, not methods of punishment :x!

I have a BB and a M nib on my 2 pens.

The M is excellent - very precise. The BB is very stubby but just too broad for my purposes.

Enjoy your pen :)

I just got a Lamy 2000 as well!

It was really hesitant and skippy at first, but as I kept writing with it for a week, it got much better.

And I'm a sucker for the classic design. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
