Yet another vote for MB Irish Green :) it's lovely and I can't see any blue or yellow tones at all.

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

Which of these shades do you prefer?

Finally, this one will be for sale in a few weeks. It is an ink powder. 30 ml will run you less than $5 (price has not been set).

BTW, you can have more than one green ink.

WOW Amberlea!

Thanks for all those samples! I must say, the De Atramentis Pine Green seems to call to me. But you are absolutely right - one is not limited to one green ink. There are so many of them (and blue, and, and...)

I'd suggest ordering a bunch of samples from Goulet and trying them out.

Diamine Sherwood Green is a favorite of mine.

What do folks think about Herbin's Wild Ivy?

One of my faves and I've been using it nonstop for the last couple of weeks. It shades well and in a wet pen it's a very nice somewhat darker green.

I have to say, that I love PR Spearmint.

Mine tends to look slightly less yellow than the scans from Amber look on my monitor.

It was the first one I thought of, too. :)

Surprised no one mentioned Noodlers Standard Green. Purest green there is. I love it. I frequently add black to darken.

Well, I've gone ahead and ordered some J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage 'Wild Ivy' to go with a new Blue-Green Lamy AL-Star. I have very much enjoyed Herbin inks I have ordered in the past.

That said, I am going to order a slew of samples from Goulet, now that I see how easy it is to do that.

I thank you all for your recommendations, and expect to explore most of them in the near future.

There are so many inks. So many...

My favorites are Sailor Epinard (already mentioned) and GvFC Moss Green, which is a bit lighter but still a true green.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
