Now for a while I thought nothing could write as good as my MB Heritage 1912, my newest acquisition a FC 02 S&I has far surpassed it. Fit, finish and writing smoothness is just superb.

While I bought this pen on a whim, I must say it was my most enjoyable purchase I've ever made! Scott and Jeff are the friendliest people I have ever dealt with. Scott I want to thank you for taking your time to answer my questions after hours and machining the all clear section and cigar cap during what must have been the preparation and aftermath of the DC show. Jeff for taking my call when I was unsure of nib size, finding out my writing habits and hand picking and adjusting the perfect EF nib. Guys i tip my hat to you and look forward to my next purchase.

Great looking pen. However, you can't just rave about it and NOT show us a writing sample. Or how about a close-up of those threads? And that clear section and cigar cap you mention? Come ooonnn, show us! It really is a nice looking pen. I just want to see some close-ups. :)

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

I purchased an Intrinsic pen from FC and just love it. I have a cursive italic nib and it is one of my favorite pens for correspondence. Also, I concur with your feelings about their service!

Hi, I'm considering buying this model pen, so I have a few questions for you, I hope I'm not being impolite. I don't see a clip on your pen, is that because it doesn't have one, or is the clip just facing away from the camera? If it has a clip, is it tight or is there any looseness? I read another review by a pen blogger, not on this forum, that there was some looseness in the clip, I'm hoping this isn't a general rule. The nib you bought is of steel, why this choice over gold? I'm debating whether to get steel or gold. Gold is supposed to be wetter. Also, just out of curiosity, what ink did you fill it with? And are you using the converter or using it as an eyedropper? I intend to use mine only as an eyedropper, it should hold a ton of ink! Sorry again for all the questions. Thanks so much.

Beautiful pen! Can't wait for the macros.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Looks great. Now I really want one... Can't wait to see more pics.

Sounds like they are really willing to accommodate you too. That's good to know.

I have the 02 in black/cherry with steel nib, and like all of the other FC pens I own, it is a beautiful pen to hold and write with. It is not my favorite in terms of looks, but a wonderful pen nonetheless.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
