Saskia- GREAT comparison and I like the new signature.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you Saskia! It looks like Dandyism may be just a hair closer to MBRG, but I will be more than happy to have both!

pen-land cafe Aichi prefecture... kind of far from Tokyo but I want to verify if the inks there is a sailor custom blend or someone blends them in house I'm thinking of the latter but I'll dig the net around

I cant find any samples that can be conclusive of the ink color but pen-land cafe's blog will be helpful

I look into rakuten I don't think even cool-Japan could get one... but if there's a rakuten probably it can be done

sorry shallow searching has led me inconclusive

all I know it's a cafe (you know like starbucks) that sells pens and food ideally a hangout place...

but posted from the cafe's website

移り喜 Utsurigi - Caprcious? fickleness? it's a deep word but basically put inconsistent would be the closest translation

could be a black brown no definite sample for me to get

レッドクリフ赤壁 Red Cliff Sekiheki (seems to be derived from Battle of Chibi)

青泉 -Aosen?- Fountain Blue

Update on ink shipping difficulties.

Update.

The ink I sent to Singapore has finally reached its destination. I could not send it by mail nor FedEx from Japan but was able to send it to the US and then have it transhipped on to Singapore.

The ink I am to get in trade also could not be mailed out of Singapore so was brought to the US by a visiting family member of my trading friend in Singapore. Hopefully, it will be on its way to me soon. Took a month or two, but got the ink to Singapore!

Also, just yesterday I sent a bottle of ink to the Pilippines. The same PO that last gave me a difficult time had me fill out an invoice that I have never seen before and accepted it with no problem after confirming that it was just pen ink that was being sent.

I have run into rule changes before. Sometimes even found one PO that does things differently that others. But I have never had completely different experiences trying to do the same thing at the same post office before.

Wonder if it was due to Christmas?

I have gotten a couple of shipments of ink from cool-japan and hobby-japan recently without any delay.

Same here. I got a cool-japan package that took about 5 days to get here from Japan.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
