Visconti Hs Stub Nib

Yet another question on the Visconti HS (the idea of acquiring one has firmly settled in my mind...)

I read there's a stub nib available but the width (is that a word?) isn't specified. Does anyone know if it's a .9 or a 1.1mm or a 1.5 or still something else?

Could anyone who owns a HS with stub compare it to a Lamy 1.1 (pic??)

I know, I'm asking a lot. Maybe I better drive by my dealer...

Says who?

On mine, the "1.3" is clearly engraved...

There are no facts, there is no truth - just a data to be manipulated...

I should have been more specific: it's not specified on the site with info on the HS that I was checking.

Definitely a 1.3 stub

My experience with these stubs is that they are highly inconsistent OTB.

Mostly they are ink gushers and put a very fat line , broader than you initially want.

Also quite susceptible to skipping as are the delta stubs.

After time , i decided to let my stubs be made only by nib meisters. Then at least you are sure to get the right size and ink flow.

If you want something thinner in terms of nib size maybe you should get a stipula

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Completely agree. Even after the seller went through all his stubs on hand to find the best one, mine still tends to hesitate at the start of every few words.

Which doesn't happen with your otter stub nib pens?

Correct, I have vintage factory stubs from Montblanc, Sheaffer, and Eversharp and none of them have any issues.

Wow valuable warming for me. Good to know that Visconti doesn't have the knowhow to produce or bus decent stub nibs

This is exactly the problem I am having, and so I am contacting the retailer for advice on how to proceed.

Sadly true. I wanted a stub and knew of the issues going in so I arranged for Mr. Masuyama (of Mike-it-Work) to "fix" it.

Unless your dealer is able and willing to run through their stock to find one that's perfect, my recommendation is to save the hassle and resign yourself to sending it into a nib specialist.

After all these bad experiences with factory stubs , i decided only to order stubs or cursive italics at brands that can offer bespoke nibs , like onoto , conway stewart and pelikan UK.Nakaya can also make bespoke stubs and I am eagerly awaiting the stub bespoke Nakaya nib.

I also had good results with Conid pens , Ok they are just Bock nibs , but Francis Fountainbel can make very fine stubs and fine tune them to your demand!

Just a sincere reaction , I recently refused an order of the visconti homosapiens.

We all should be more severe at the retailers and the pen producers.

Problem is that ,, even if you have a good minded retailer , he is still highly dependent on the service attitude of the brand itself.

I am waiting more than 2 months for a quality issue at Omas pens.An Paragon that costs a fortune!!!

Ok, so mine seems to be the exeption that proves the rule.

My Bronze has a factory Stub that works as perfect as the IB on my Pelikan M800...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
