What Does Your Desk Look Like Right Now

What does your desk or writing space look like right now? Mine is covered in pens, paper, books, and other ephemera. I thought it would be interesting to see other people's creative spaces.

Desk?

I use a folding TV tray to hold my computer and paperwork while I sit on the couch.

Sometimes I use a lapdesk.

It's easy to keep them clear of stuff.

This is my makeshift desk in my temporary apartment. The remodel has only been going on a year and a half now...furniture for the new place arrived a month ago and now is packed into the temporary apartment which was fully furnished....so all of the apartments furniture had to be moved into storage; that means I only have to move furniture 4 different times :crybaby: . Hopefully only a couple more months left *fingers crossed*

All hail the Ikea desk!! You might be wondering if I could possibly cram more items onto/into it... and I assure you, I could. :P FYI, there's a giant box under the desk full of notebooks, sketchbooks, and journals.

Top cubicle against the wall, TeaHive, what's the story on the "wittle wabbit"?

Ah. When I was a wee wabbit myself, my mother and grandmother decided that I was to collect rabbits. This started when I was a baby, so I had no say in the matter. As a child, I had a ton of rabbit toys. But I eventually decided I didn't like rabbits that much (except Angoras, because I want to spin their fur into yarn someday), and got rid of 'em all except that one. I kept that one mostly because I liked the pastel colors. And I thought it would look nice on my witchy altar of goodness that makes up that top left shelf.

Ha, I've used the photo of Ernest Hemingway as my Google profile photo for a long time.

I will update mine as soon as I'm done with my certification exam.

At risk of losing all my friends, here are two photos from my office. Embarrassing, but I've been this way my whole life, so I'll embrace it.

Desk is your typical L-shaped office desk. This is it's natural state, I didn't get it all cleaned and organized for you. LOL

The other photo is the floor NEXT to my desk of papers, exams, etc that I have to step on/over to get around my desk. Has been like that for three months. I clean up once every trimester and next week is when that will happen. Ha!

"Cool" stuff you may be curious about in the desk photo from left to right...

- iPod

- Roll of RockTape kinesiology tape

- Tea ball and Parker Duofold (striped, vac) that I almost never write with

- Obstructures AS3 aluminum plate wallet (LOVE this... blocks RFID and cut the size of my wallet by 50% holding same stuff... upgraded from Saddleback)

- Guatemalan coffee from Sweet Maria's that I roast at home myself (yum)

- Lavazza mug, liberated from hotel room in Amsterdam a few years ago

- Victorinox Alox Cadet, black, with Ti bead from illgear.com

- Bottles of ink under 2nd monitor (get very little use... I get away with blue-black here but that's a stretch) - Noodlers': blue-black, black, Apache, Cayenne, Libert's Elysium, #41 Brown, Lexington Gray, Lamy Turquoise, Waterman's Inspired Blue, decanted ESS Registrar's Ink (my old go-to, but I got bored of it so switched to Noodler's Blue Black for a while).
- Harney and Sons Lapsang Souchong tea (AMAZING) with an Esterbrook dipless pen and double dipless well hidden below the tea can

- Bamboo Bottle (glass on the inside)

- Tensegrity model/toy from Amazon

- Obstructures small Bandboard with wing (from Kickstarter, never use it)

- Aluminum desk rail system from either Herman Miller or Haworth (I think it was Haworth)- this setup would've cost a small fortune at retail price, but I used to go to the company store outlet all the time when I lived in Holland, MI and so I probably spent $20 on this.

That is one of the most open, clutter-free desk corners I've ever seen. Nice desk pens!

Thank you...fortunately, you can't see the other corners!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
