The Derby style clips on both the standard and demi appear to be identical on mine.

Mainly seems like the cap length is different, and that the top-dome may be threaded differently depending on age, but I'd imagine that on either it would come off just like mine with the derby clip hinged to the back of the ring (which you can slip down) and a spring-like clip inserted into the back of the front that you would just slip up and secure by screwing the cap barrel back on. (I haven't tried this on my Derby but I did disassemble that standard cap earlier today since I just got it).

Hey, why not contact Wahl-Eversharp, and see if you can buy a replacement clip.

If I remember what I read someplace, the clip of the new Skyline is the same size as the vintage Skyline.

So suddenly, us guys with old Skylines with broken clips can get replacement parts to repair them. :)

But man, after looking at the clip on mine, I don't want to attempt a removal or installation without someone to teach me how to do it without damaging the clip. I don't know if you need special tools to do the removal/installation of the clip.

Given the prices of the new skylines, I'd image it'd cost more than the vintage skylines alone. (otherwise I would have done just that for my burgundy).

Oh heck, why not just ask the owner? Yes the new clips will replace the old ones. We don't make a business out of parts sales, but for those who frequent the WAHL-EVERSHARP forum we can make some accommodations. And they're not vary expensive. Cant do business here but a PM will work. The removal and replacement does take some experience but no tools are necessary - if you know what your doing.

I noticed the metal is really thin. I actually have small cracks on the side of the on my green/black right near the square logo portion just because it moved too far as I was working it back onto the dome. (will probably be fine as long as I never have to remove it again, since most of the stress will be on the interior bar below that point)

:P To me if it's over $25 that's going to be expensive :P

I once sold a gallon ziploc bag full of Skyline debris and a quart bag full of caps. Find the guy that bought it, I'm sure he has clips.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
