Thanks ac12, I just bought three bottles. Now the long wait for it to get to me.

The seller has done a couple batches prior, so when this batch runs out, he "may" put up another batch for sale.

I do wonder where do people get these old inks?

Hi,

Sheaffer Peacock Blue really a nice colour. It used to be one of my favourite turquoises, in fact it still is. I don't really like to rely on inks that have been discontinued, so I usually just find duplicates for the colours I use that have been discontinued. Nowadays I use OMAS Turquoise and I also happen to like the current Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise. They are based on the same dye as far as I can tell.

That said, I think it is worth it to try the Peacock Blue at least once if you can. I finished the bottle I had, but it's a really nice colour.

That's awesome.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have a bottle of Peacock Blue - pretty well gone now.

I would suggest you try TOUCAN BRIGHT BLUE. Despite its name, it is not a bad substitute - and economical too!

Toucan inks are made in Australia and are marketed by JustWrite Pens - www.justwrite.com.au

  • 2 weeks later...

Vintage ink sometimes turns up on Ebay, but also on occasion in regular antique stores. I found a 2/3-3/4 full pint bottle of Skrip Peacock Blue a month or so ago in an antiques mall in Frostburg, PA (which is northwest of Clarion). Only paid $10 US plus sales tax, and it looks good -- no apparent SITB. I want to get some small bottles (probably four oz Boston rounds in amber glass, with either phenolic caps or eyedroppers) to decant into so it's easy to actually use; ditto for a possibly unused 8 oz. bottle of Quink Violet that I got on Ebay last year.

After getting a bit on my hands I can see why people really liked the color of Skrip Peacock Blue....

Apparently mine came up today. And what is wrong with the cap? It's like the cap from hell, it leaks.

Sorry to hear that. My three were pristine. If it is the cap liner that is bad, you can take a milk carton with the waxed surfaces, and cut out a new one. Has worked for me.

It leaks when I turn it over to fill that thingy. Then I turn it over again to open the lid a wave of ink just spills on the side.

Hello IcyWolfe,

Usually tilting the bottle is all you have to do to fill the side inkwell; don't turn it upside down.

Hello AC12,

Thanks for posting this; I picked up a bottle of Sheaffer Peacock - just to have one, (like Dillo, I don't like to get hooked on non-available inks), I wish he had some of their original blue-black in 2 oz. bottles; all I'm seeing are those 12 ml things.

Best regards,

Chris

I just realized that today. I though the walls were much higher.

Not sure if my ink is correct or not, but it seems to behave very similiarly to my Kon-Peki. So if I use Pilot Skyblue it will be very similar to this ink.

(Sorry for the bad writing I was awfully sleep that time. I was mostly learning how to write Japanese Kanji for most of that and never touching the package.)

This this was a pilot ink I would totally put in in my Justus95 for Flexy-Kanji writing like a brush for that shading.

You can replace the inner foam by cutting the circle out of a foam dinner plate.

I could no longer find the listing. I would love to have some agin as it was the first ink that I ever really used all of the time.

I did find a listing this morning for 6 vintage Peacock blue bottles (wrapped as a set of 6) which I may consider though sheckels are short this month..

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
