Uk - Oxford Optik On Sale At Tesco

Renfield

Recommended Posts

Hey Folks

I was in Tesco today and notices Oxford Optik paper is half price.

It says the offer is on until 5th September, but the ones I saw where:

Oxford A5 Wirebound £1

Oxford A4 Refill Pad £1.50

Oxford A4 Wirebound £2

Oxford A4 Project book £2.50

They had a lot of other offers, but nothing FP friendly as far as I know.....

Not sure how long the stock will last, but gather up while you can.

No other FP friendly paper beats it...Including Rhodia in my opinion.

Sounds good

I bought some clairefontain that arrived today but I don't like it, so I'm looking out to try something new. CF is way too feedback-less-ly smooth and 'greasy' - my fountain pens skips horribly whereas they don't on any other paper, and it seems to reduce the line width and shading of broad nibs

Thank you. I was referring to the new Oxford SOS Notes.

I don't remember seeing any, but there was a lot of school supplies, so I might not have noticed them.

They did have a Project Book, which has dividers etc looks like this http://my-oxford.co.uk/student-and-education/notebook for £2.50

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out my local Tesco.

Has anyone tried their new own brand range of notebooks? They're typical 'me too' products, soft touch covers in a range of colours and elastic closure but at £5 for an A5 made in China notebook I've not felt compelled to buy one and discover yet another disappointment.

Tried this morning and they were at there normal prices, I imagine that price is only for certain stores e.g. Only North Ireland.

They also had some Staedtler Triplus crayons at half price, I was tempted but the last time used crayons was over 5 years ago.

Is this paper similar in texture to Rhodia? I remember trying it a few years back and some of my pens did not work well with it.

It was on offer in ROI stores last week too but not this week at the usual harsh conversion rate. A Tesco employee there told me it's due back for offer in the third week of August for back to school.

Maybe your back to School sale hasn't started yet, as the english schools are not long off.

Here we have been off since the end of June, so maybe our prep starts early for an earlier return?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
