Thanks, guys. I should also point out that the leaf roll stopper was only partly my work - i took a leaf from a bead store and mounted it in a ring I made.

Thanks, guys. The material on this first overlay is brass. In the near future, I'll probably be focusing mostly on silver and brass while I get my bearings. Gold filled or plated will come once I'm sure I've got it all down.

Ah, heh. I'll make an announcement in The Mall when I'm ready to go pro. This was one of my summer projects...with Fall semester starting up, I'll probably not be cranking these out too fast.

Very nice! How did you make it? If you made it from flat sheet, it's possible you fretsawed it, then rolled it around a mandrel and brazed it. If you made it from brass tube, maybe you used a dremel?

It looks very good. There are a lot of possibilities for this.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
