Ballpoint Identification Web Site?

Is there a web site with Sheaffer ballpoint information such as models and dating? Pencils for that matter? By accident I have acquired enough Sheaffers to start an offshoot to my Parker FP collection (oh no! And let's not even talk about Jotters...).

Thanks,

Brian

Try here for starts, http://parkerpens.net/

Then try Pen Hero and look under the Pen Bookmarks drop down for all sorts of other sites.

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

Oooh, Penhero is great, but not for Sheaffer ballpoints. Oh, well, at least I did find out (from searching this board) that the end of Parker refills can be filed down to make the refills fit in old Sheaffer ballpoints. I tried it and it works great.

Sorry. Didn't read closely enough-Sheaffer, not Parker. Apologies.

The answer for pencils is Jonathan Veley. What was the question? http://www.jonathanveley.com/mechanical-pencil-museum is the main one, http://leadheadpencils.blogspot.com/ is another. I have not gotten anywhere near that level. Now he has books out.

All kinds of pencils, yes, even our beloved Sheaffers. In spite of himself.

Ball point pens are another discussion. I only have one I care about, with a President's name on in. My others mostly came in pen lot bids.Although I like converting NonNonsense ballpoints to calligraphy pens.

Here is another thread with some more references: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/264329-resources-for-ball-points-and-pencils/

Looks like Jonathon Veley's site will be helpful (and wow - its incredible!). Thanks for the link!

I purchased a handful of NOS ballpoints which look 1960's to me. They have a rectangular push button and com in a variety of colors. I am replacing the old odd Skrip cartridges with Parker and Fisher refills. When I have to use a ballpoint, it may as well be a cool vintage one...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
