Visconti Hs Hard Start

Hi all, recently purchased a Visconti HS with a broad nib. Writes beautifully except that the initial downstroke on the first letter tends to skip. Otherwise it lays down a nice wet line. I've contacted the vendor and am awaiting reply but though I should try to get some feedback from you all. Thanks.

Sounds like it could be "baby bottom" syndrome. Sometimes, especially with broad or stub nibs, the way the inner portions of the tines are ground causes the ink to retreat from the tip, causing hard starts. If the vendor doesn't help, you'd need to send the pen to a nib expert.

I purchased a HS at the 2014 LA Pen Show with a stub nib that had the same problem. I sent the pen to Mike Masuyama (http://www.mikeitwork.com/index.html) (Note: Actually, Mike is now about 0.5 miles from my house so I drove it to him) and it now writes fantastic. I was told that there were problems with some of the HS stub nibs from the factory, and it might be the same with the broad nibs.
