Mb Swift

I know I am a bit late to the party, but I've been looking at Mont Blancs past special editions, and I was wondering if the Jonathan Swift ink is still available from a shop somewhere, anywhere ;) it is a long shot but you never know. I'll make sure to stock up on the 2015 JFK blue, but I only recently got into inks seriously and I really would like a bottle of swift. (I know they're on eBay, but some shops still have them listed, although 'sold out').

Jonathan Swift has been less popular than other Writers Editions. It is still quite easily available.

I have seen it in most all Montblanc boutiques as well as resellers. The ink is still available at most Montblanc boutiques in the US as well as some other global locations. Ask nicely and they will sell a bottle to you.

Thank you! I have emailed them to ask if they can ship to the Netherlands.

Less popular? I wouldn't have guessed that. There's a MB boutique in Amsterdam - I'll try and get in touch with them.

Alas, the shop confirms they only ship to the US and Canada. But I have a cunning plan.

$19 is cheaper than new in €.

It is not Racing Green    , close to Herbin Vert Empire. Empire and Swift are nice murky greens.

Amazing, Racing Green was the most hated ink in the world, back when it was made. Only a few folks were into shading murky green ink.

Most didn't understand murky, many didn't like inks that shaded, preferring a solid monotone ink.

As soon as discontinued, it became a great ink.

There is a great thread of 30 murky greens, do an advanced search or hit google.

Those who suddenly wanted Racing Green, were disappointed, Swift was not. So didn't stock up. Still have most of my bottle. I knew it wasn't Racing Green, when I bought it.

It is an ink that looks a sickly green gray under halogen lights. I almost gave it to my Baker's kid the next day. Good thing I looked at it under daylight....the kid didn't get free ink.

Sigh....miss Racing Green. Bought MB Sepia instead...never having used a brown***. But I was 'noobie'. Back then, all MB inks were hated. The advice to the noobie, was buy the MB ink, drain it down the sink and re-fill the bottle.

Sepia was my first 'brown', later I bought a bottle on German Ebay for 1/3 more than new. Have 1 1/3 bottles.

***Got to crawl before you walk can into walls. Buying ink instead of other fluid, helps on the last part too.

Poor Jonathan Swift, hated for not being Racing Green, which was also hated and loved too late. Perhaps, when there is no more Swift to be had, it will become desirable.

Darcy, did you try LaCduC? They are premium MB sellers. It is not on the website, but perhaps Dennis has some left? Alas they are closed for holidays now, although still available per email.

Ha! Hardly less popular, it's pretty well cleaned out in the US as far as I know. What bought you to that conclusion?

Wow, that's amazing re the bolded part.

I only recently started writing with a fountain pen again, so missed Racing Green. I did end up buying Irish Green though, which is slightly lighter and again a great shader. MB seem to be pretty on the money with their green selections

Since it wasn't on their website I didn't ask. But good of you to mention they may have some left. I'll look into that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
