A new Diamine purple?! Yes!! Does Diamine regularly release new inks?

I'll keep on struggling, 'cause that's the measure of a man.

That purple is gorgeous. I'll definitely be getting a sample.

Fingers crossed Autumn Oak has good shading, it might get close enough to Apache Sunset, which I've been dying to have.

Released on 1 August. I have both on order. I especially like the look of the Tyrian Purple.

I already own 9 different Diamine colors… but these two look like I have to expand my collection to 11. I have just been thinking about an autumn ink today, and the orange seems like the perfect choice, moreover I will probably like it more than the regular Orange, which is too red and bright for me.

+1 I have had Apache Sunset on my wish list for a while, but it always seems a more 'normal' color of ink always takes precedence - other than playing with the shading, would I use this ink enough to justify buying a bottle? But if Diamine comes out with an equally good shading orange ink that behaves well, it will no doubt leap frog over Noodler's version. (I am one of the perhaps few that seem to prefer Diamine inks over Noodler's inks - plus I can't resist an ink with 'oak' in the name. :P)

The Tyrian Purple has possibilities, too. Not that I need another purple, but I am sure that need will soon arise!

Hope they release these new inks here in the US in August as well; I look forward to reading the reviews.

I think it was last October that Salamander came out, so yeah, fairly regularly. They also have the box sets (two so far) that tend to come out 'round the holidays.

Thanks for this, Mallymal. I've just ordered Autumn Oak. I'm hoping it's as mellow and autumnal as it looks as I'm looking for a replacement for Caran d'Ache Saffron.

Don't know Autumn Oak is quite my thing but Tyrian Purple is a must. Oh dear, that'll take me up to 55 Diamine inks! But those little bottles don't really count, do they?

Hi, Hetty. I've ordered the Autumn Oak as well, and yes, it will be interesting to see how it compares to C d'A Saffron. My bottle's almost empty.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
