<MODS: please move this if I have put it in the wrong section. Wasn't sure which place was best suited>

Please have a look at the following picture. Seller says it's a lizard skin Mabie Todd Swan lever filler. And it does indeed appear to have a Swan #2 nib. However, I cannot find a comparable body and cap design. The clip looks different from any other picture I can find too.

The seller listed at $200 or Best Offer. I gave it a very low poke, there was a counter-offer (refused) and now the listing is at $125 or Best Offer - which is significantly below the counter-offer!

So, what say you, erudite fellows all?

I could be wrong, but the clip doesn't look like any Mabie Todd I know. Unless someone makes a positive ID, I wouldn't put any serious money on it.

Stranger and stranger... Now it's down to $100 BIN. Even more reason to stay away, at least for me.

Yes, strange and suspicious. I am watching but not participating. Just thought I would give a few people here a heads-up on it as these 'snakeskin' Mabies attract a lot of attention from what I have seen.

This pen looks more like a "National Security" to me.

The clip is not the kind of one Mabie Todd used to have, and imprints on Swan MT pens normaly stay deep and readable...

It seems to be a nice pen, except for the undistinguished clip, good for maybe $50 tops in my book. I just don't like the carelessness with which it's been misidentified and advertised, although I can hardly blame the seller if he or she is unfamiliar with eons and just saw the nib. This is ago is example of when caveat emptor should come into play.
