Dear Parker experts,

 

I found this Parker Vacumatic online, and it appears to be a Golden Web. I am not expert enough to properly identify it and to know whether I should go for it. I've read this guide at PenHero and the nib seems to be off, but perhaps this is a version for the European market. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think the nib is a replacement. Possibly from an English Duofold as it has the "N" for Newhaven. I don't believe any Golden Webs were produced in England.

 

Still, it's a very desirable pen and you could probably find a replacement nib for it pretty easily.

The nib in the pen is nice. A replacement arrow nib would be relatively easy to find. Even one with a proper date code should be easy. I'm not seeing what that imprint says. It must be a name.

I'm with Perry. It is identical to mine. I have a Vac Arrow on mine as well. Your nib is like a nib I have on an English Victory from the 40's.

Great nib. If you're happy with the price... Snap it up!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
