I did the Flex My Ahab Mod on my TWSBI 580 and now it writes a lot better. There is more road feel and it is more like the Bock nib in my 540 rather than the smooth nail JOWO which came with my 580 BUT I wanted to do the same thing to my TWSBI Diamond Mini and I can't pull the nib out of the collar. It is stuck on there like grim death! Most pens have the nib slide out of the feed assembly (or sitting on top of it only), the Mini feels like it is permanently stuck in place and not meant to come out. Which is it? I had a man at the penner's meeting yesterday try to pull it out and he could not do it. Just would like to know. Thanks.

It's friction fit like the 580 but just really tight. I've seen posts of people damaging it trying to get it out.

This is why I am leaving mine alone. I tried, men have tried, I have soaked it, and tried, tried heat and cold....nope. It's not budging. So I am treating it as a one piece. Not the end of the world.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
