Newton Pens - Preston - Elizabethan - Gibby

Newton Pens

Recommended Posts

Lots of pens this week.

Iridescent Chunk - FP, BP (or gel), and MP.

http://newtonpens.wordpress.com/preston-iridescent-chunk-set-small

The pencil is made using the internals from a Dr. Grip pencil. The customer wanted this one for the exposed eraser unit on the end. It's better than any of the kit pencils I've ever made. This one can be easily serviced by replacing any parts after a trip to any local office store rather than ordering kit parts online (which may still be no good).

Shawn;

I can't tell you how happy I am with how this set has turned out. It is all that I hoped for, but even more; The custom touches all along, especially your willingness to completely 'invent' the pencil from a concept to this has just been incredible.

I know this set, paired with the journal which TM Lee is making, and the desk top box will be a total surprise for my son. I am sure he will appreciate the custom craftsmanship which goes into all the components. I wrote him a letter recently and he responded with: Gee thanks Dad, it has been a long time since I have received a real, hand written letter", ... in an email of course. He's young enough that FP's are uncharted water for him, but mature enough that I am confident in time he will test those waters.

For me the hardest part now is going to be having to wait till he graduates (PhD folks!) to give him this present.

Thanks once again for your hard work, and collaborative spirit. Your partnership in this project, from concept to finished product (product? ... more like masterpiece) has added enormously to the notion that this is once in a life time gift, appropriate for a once in a life time achievement.

The iridescent chunks material is one of my favourites.

Using parts from a store bought pencil was a good idea. The thickness of the Dr. Grip pencil is a good match for the fountain pen while still using what appear to be .5 mm or .7 mm leads. The pencil kit's I've seen are either very slim or are clutch pencils using much thicker (2 - 5mm) leads.

Finished this one last night - but had to make another cap this morning. There was an air bubble in the acrylic. Really annoying to finish a cap only to have to start all over. At least it wasn't my fault. :)

That black one with the green cap top us verrry classy. I like the clip too. Elegant, like a great tuxedo.

So you're busy, huh? I guess that's good...I'm in agonies over trying to decide my next pen model and materials. I guess I had better hurry. And of course once I have decided the materials won't be available anymore...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
